T48 limit settings.

#1 Post by Jmoore »

Hello,
I have a crown XTI 4000 powering two 36 inch wide T48's. I Also have a Driverack PA2 available. Are the onboard limiters in the XTI sufficient? Or, would the driverack be better suited?
Also, how to determine how much limiting?
Thanks in advance

The XTi only has a -3/-6/-12 setting. It won't do what you need. Use the Driverack.

You set the limiter using a voltmeter on the outputs of the amp with amp turned all the way up (but, no speakers attached). You'll put a 60hz test tone through your mixer with the input and the output of the mixer at unity.

Then you access the limiter section of the DR and turn off the OverEasy function and make sure you are accessing the limiter and not the compressor - you have to scroll through to get to the right place. Then watching the voltmeter, turn adjust the limiter until it gets to your desired voltage. Then, while watching the voltmeter, quickly crank the mixer volume all the way up. If the voltmeter doesn't move, you've done it correctly.

Yes it is, however if the OP has a driver not listed in the plans, which we now know he does, this table is very helpful..

I have the 2013 plans which don't include this table.
Also if the cabs were bought used, there may be a chance the OP doesn't own plans. And if they don't, it would be best to purchase them.
