Jack 10 Lite

#1 Post by T_Gowan »

Started cutting for 2 with another 2 planed. Taking pictures but nothing post worthy yet. Its been in the plans for over 2 years but had to make the first step and buy the ply. Will be full melded array for the first 2 , partially for bass but want them to be PA capable.

First question, of many to come. When gluing the front horn braces that go directly on the bottom and top panels. Is it ok to use white carpenter glue for these as they are flat to the panel. Just thought it might be easier to get them flat, tight to the panel.

You may, but it's got to be airtight.

I wouldn't. Unless your cut is dead-on 90 degrees (or whatever the slant is on the Lites), there will be some wiggle when you square it up between the top and bottom. That's where you could possibly get a leak. Not worth it....use the PL everywhere. The squeezeout proves that it's airtight.

The speaker pole top hat is quite forward with the speaker behind it. Is it to clear the speaker frame?

Just thinking ahead. What radius can you do on the edges of 1/4 inch material on Lite boxes. And are there stackable corners that work on these?

Probably be hard to find corners for 1/4". But, what you could do is put a 1/4" plate on the outside surfaces where the corners go (say 2"x3"). That would give you a 1/2 thickness just at the corners and you can use the standard 3/8" roundover.

I think it would look pretty cool too....beefy corners.

3/8 radius plastic corners will work with a 1/4 radius chamfer. They're not ideal but they'll do.

Got my top hats, tweeters. Thinking about my next move as I'm at work now :(
Are the crossover components the same as the DR200? I think I have a spare set from my old build.
