OmniTop 12 and Tuba 30

Hi,

I have just started the build of my first OT12.
I'm no carpenter but i decided to give it a try.
The wood i used is poplar, I hope that it is good enough for the job. Anyway it's very light.

I also bought TopHats so i can mount theme on a speaker stand. But where do i need to make a hole for the hat?

They are tall, so i suspect that they would go trough the Throat reflector.
The Throat reflectors aren't installed yet, i think they will be a pain in the ass if i need to cutout the tophat.
Any Idea's or comments? Is it better to shorten the tophat?

Edit:
How do i mount the driver on the spacer? I have T-nuts, so just drill a hole and put T-Nut in and then use short bolts?

The top hat mount is in the plans. The plans also recommend using screws for the woofer; if you were to use Tnuts they, and the spacer, would have to have been installed before the cab was assembled.

Thx Bill, So If i understand the plans correct, first install the Throat reflectors, and at the end of the build make a hole where the top hat has to go?

That's the easiest method to get the hole lined up properly. With a holesaw use a longer pilot bit than standard.

I positioned mine so that the tube part is less than 1/4" in front of the baffle. I used the old baffles, however, so they're in front of the solid portion of the baffle.

Hi, I just realized i used B-grade poplar with only 3 layers (I tought you counted the thinner layers to ), should i continue the build or search for better wood ?

Allright now i'm confused, i called my lumberyard today and they told me its 7 layers. Maybe i should post a picture of the wood ...

Edit: They also told me that the wood is from rioja-area in Spain. The class they specify is BB.

that is not Baltic Birch. It should have even plys, not a thin veneer on the outside. the lumberyard is ing you.

That's what I counted, too. What got me was that, on the top, that layer looked thinner, so I wasn't sure if it was a ply or a veneer.

No the wood is Popular. Allright then there are 7 layers. I think 3 ticker layers and 4 smaller layers.

The question is should i use this wood (Light and relative cheap about 10 euro/m2) or should i get other wood with even tick layers and call this a practice build

What attacked . If so plz tell me and i will use other site to upload photo's.

I tried the picture again and it seems ok - AVG weirdness maybe?? Anyway that plywood looks fine. BB is the grade - not an abbreviation for baltic birch. A lot of big companies are using poplar now because it's light.(Dynacord for one)
