Once caulked to the baffle the tweeters add structural integrity, and they have to be caulked to be airtight anyway. My test box took 100w with no ill effect. Just in case I've added a stiffener between the baffle and main brace.

Got the Alpha 6s today. Wife says "oh they're so cute". Cute and stout! They feel like they weigh as much as a BP102.

The four screws are going to be enough for these bad boys to stay airtight in the Arauco, being moved around as a pro rig?

The load is 1 pound per screw, so it should be fine, especially if you caulk them per the plans.

Ah, thought the piezos were only thing caulked, as the Alphas have the soft gasket. Sounds good, thanks.

I specified the caulking for structural strength, what with the 1/2" baffle and all.

Understood. Found some Recex-like screws that I've been using on some other projects, so I'll likely use those with the silicone caulk.

One last question (I hope). Suitable for dampening material? Was 75% off at Target. Says memory-foam on it, and I know we've had threads about memory foam before, but wasn't sure what your take on it was. I'm planning on installing it before I attach the baffle to make it a little easier to staple.

You have to be careful to programme the foam so it does not have "Mistake Memory" - otherwise all your bum notes will be repeated  :loler:

Good quality memory foam has much higher density and weight than standard foam, and that's not good for damping, it can result in an over-damped cab.

Ah, well - it was $5 for that whole roll, so I figured it was worth a shot. I still have some old foam left over that should be enough for both of these cabs.

Waiting for stuff to come in the mail is killing me ;)

Compare it to the standard foam for density.

It's probably twice as heavy, for the same size piece. Same thickness.

That would probably result in overdamping.

What are the effects of overdamping?
