Re: Posting Photos
I use imgur to post pics on forums. It doesn't shrink them down or require it to be potato quality from the dial-up age.

Re: HT cabs: dye or stain?
I like that idea. When I Duratex, I put a few layers of flat black on first for easier coverage. I could always Duratex over the flat black if I don't like the results.Keryn O'Shea wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 9:24 pm Could you stain the outer, flat black the woofer baffles....

Re: HT cabs: dye or stain?
Anything that's at all opaque will show the wood filler. Do a piano black finish, layers of spray urethane or clear coat over a flat black base, rubbed out and polished. Thanks Bill, but that sounds like a lot of work for me. Maybe if there weren't 9 small baffle to deal with I'd try it. I was able...

HT cabs: dye or stain?
I've hit a wall with my HT build. I need to figure out what type of black finish to apply. I like the look of black speakers that show the wood grain if you look closely, but my woodworking skills are more the Duratex finish style. Currently I'm trying to fill the gaps and sand smooth the 9 driver b...

From the limited knowledge I know of electronics; sometimes old or bad parts can make strange noises.

Re: Simplexx 15 Ported and Sealed?
Since the dimension are the same, I don't see why you couldn't made a second sealed baffle and screw it to the ported baffle. Or just some squares to cover the port. The only difference I see in sealed vs ported is the bracing.

The plans go over sealed vs ported and what drivers he recommends. (I assume you don't have the plans yet)

Re: Surrounds wiring options
Update: No progress on hanging and wiring the surrounds so far. The holidays and other things have taking priority. But now have a fish tape and pole, and hopefully enough wiring for the job. I've decided to run 3 surround's wires up in the attic and the one on the kitchen wall will be run up from t...

It's for 5'x5' 12mm BB for $25 a sheet. They say normally it's $40 a sheet but they have a lot to get rid of I guess. I paid $95 for a 5x5 sheet about 18 months ago.

Re: Surrounds wiring options
I'm still considering my options to run wires through the walls. Drilling down into the basement then running them over and back up the wall would be the easiest. I'm thinking about pulling the baseboards to run wires behind them then up the wall. My thought is it'll prevent unsightly wires in the b...

Re: Rike's SLA and Tuba 18 for Home Theater Build Saga
I recommend you spend a little more on a sub driver. The MCM driver is fine, but I was tired of separating the cone from the surrounds. The Dayton DCS205-4 I put in my AT is way better, and only $10 more (holy $hit! I remember when the mcm's were $35!). I also second Antonz's recommendation of the T...

Re: Surrounds wiring options
Here's a quick and dirty sketchup of my living home theater setup. Not everything is perfectly to scale, but close enough to give you an idea what I'm working with. The TLAH's, SLA center, and S18 are not built yet. I have my SLA's and AT serving L&R and sub duty currently. Still deciding if I w...
