Re: Design query for a folded horn Cajon box
Seems like more problems than it's worth. Would create a bump in response from the horn that may or may not interact well with a PA and also potentially filter out HF, making a single mic usage for reinforcement near impossible. I tend to double mic anyway, but many don't. Bigger cajons already have...

Re: New Mixer Thoughts
I almost despise the physical interface on it. I can use them, but the whole translate the LED bar and read the right silk-screened info for the mode you're in drives me up the wall. Either give me a dedicated knob for the function, or put it on a display so I don't have to think too hard while I'm...

Re: New Mixer Thoughts
Could look at the QU series as well. Lots of good options. I'd send the Presonus back, but I almost despise the physical interface on it. Re: Titan 48s on a QSC 3602?
I run mine off a plx3602, either a pair per channel, or singles on each channel. With the 10ohm rating on the T48 and the power rating of the 3602 it takes quite a bit to damage the drivers, especially if you apply the low-cut filter as recommended. You're probably pretty safe even without the limit...

Re: $$ No way HoesAye $$ Honda generator EU models VS costco powerstroke6500
I've run my OT12/T48 rig and monitors off the 30 amp plug on an eu3000 with no problems. For your backyard party and not excessive volume levels it should do fine. Round here I can rent an eu3000 and eu6500. They're pricey but worth every penny.

Re: High powered amp with DR200s?
I'm a fan of lightweight amp racks, but I'm also a fan of redundancy. I have a pair of sub amps so ideally I run everything 1:1 on its own channel. Given a failure or some other redeployment need I can link everything and use a single amp, albeit with reduced output capability, but the show will go ...

Re: Presonus Mixer
I could live with the new rackmount version of the studiolive, but I absolutely loathe using the Studiolive desks with the ipad and trying to move back and forth between the two. Realistically it's an either or proposition since they didn't bother with motorized faders. In the middle of a show I don...

Re: Starting the build tomorrow, a couple of quick questions
I picked up a pair of these and use them for clamping right angle squares. More expensive than Bruce's but they work well as a rafter square.

Re: Managing cables
I buy roll velcro from Harbor Freight. Cut off only the length needed for the cable, cut a small slit in one end and use a small zip tie to fasten tightly to the male end of the Xlr or whichever end of the cable is at the rack or snake. This is what I have been doing. It works pretty well, but I ju...

Re: Lab 15 on sale
A series parallel arrangement may or may not be dangerous for other drivers given a proper limiting setup. Scenario: 2 T60, both Dual Lab12 loaded, internal wired in series to increase impedance and double voltage. Cabinets daisy chained in parallel to hang multiple off one amp channel. Processing i...

Re: Managing cables
http://www.itapestore.com/velcroonewrapstrapscableties.aspx They stick together occasionally, but I put them on the male end and generally disconnect one at a time as I pack up. I bought a spool of 900 for $150. Yes, you can buy other types for cheaper but these are the most durable I've found and t...

Re: Protecting Gear in Harsh Environments
The ground is your boundary. That's half-space. You won't get enough of a boundary from anything else to worry about it. For your volume requirements you should be fine. You could get some cheesecloth, dye it black and use that, or just black grill cloth. I'd just be looking to minimize dust in all ...

Re: Easy way to clamp at 90°
Empire roofing squares from Home Depot or other similar outlets have gaps in them that allow for small clamps. I used them on my last OT12 build and got some very fine boxes. Relatively cheap and handy to have anyway. I also picked up some 90 degree clamps from harbor freight. They allow for clampin...

Re: Direct Box Recommendation
ProDI if you're on a budget. JDI heartily recommended if you can swing it. The Countryman Type 85 is also a die-hard active that's worth having on hand. All mine are actives these days. I carry J48's for mono sources and Audiopile LDB-202 dual channel actives for stereo box needs. I have had one of ...
