Re: Tuba 30 with Faital Pro 12FH500

They are in spec.....but why???? Those are stupid expensive. The Eminence drivers are way cheaper. Don't know where you are from. Is Eminence available where you are? Madisound has them on clearance for $150.00: https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/special-sale/faital-pro-12fh500-12-high-output-wo...

Re: T48 stack

For what it's worth, I'll chime in here. One factor that hasn't been mentioned yet is workability. Baltic Birch is flat. It stays flat. It is the absolutly the best plywood you'll ever work with. Since you are building 4 T48s, that means a lot of large panels. The larger the panel, the more likely i...

Re: Mic Positioning

If you are miking with a typical dynamic cardiod mic like an SM57 or a Senn 609, I'd point it at the cone of one speaker off center - right at the center can be pretty harsh. That would be the preferred way in a live situation. You can mic from a center position, but you'll have to be careful of can...

Re: Omnitop12, my first

With some support I am going to replace all of my Asd-1001 cds with f151m-8 cds. I am running active filters so adjusting to 1.2khz will be pretty easy. I am still going to experiment with dual loading cds per cab so more to follow. Just changing to the F151 will see an increase of 4.5dB in sensiti...

Re: Australian Options - Suppliers / Drivers etc

Duratex is right at $80/gallom from Leland....that's where I've always bought it. Tha's around $125AU retail. Shipping from the US is killer ATM, has been for some time, probably will be for some time... Hell, shipping within the US has gotten pretty steep too. I didn't realize the exchange rate wa...

Re: Australian Options - Suppliers / Drivers etc

Great info and ideas as usual Grant, I like the Rhino coat idea most. I'll check around for something like that Bruce thank you, can you tell us what Duratex is going for in the US? I have a few customers who are painters/builders, I'll rattle their cages.. Also I didn't realise how crap our dollar...

Re: Australian Options - Suppliers / Drivers etc

Don't know if you have it there, but Krylon makes a "hammered" spray paint in a rattle can. A whole bunch of coats of primer and a couple of top coats of that might be worth a try. It looks kind'a like duratex, but isn't nearly as tough. Just one more option.

Re: Somewhat of a newbie question: 4 Cerwin Vega L36pe OR (vs) 4 BFM T48s OR T60s

Good day guys, the header just about tells all. I grew up hearing the Cerwin Vegas a lot and loved how they "hit" and was wondering how do they compare to the BFM T48s and or the T60s. Got the plans for all mentioned, just narrowing down the lot to what's most feasible. Thanks a mil in ad...

Re: Need Amp Help

Hello. I am setting out to build a pair of T60s with the single Lab15 (6 ohm) in each, as well as two Omnitop 12s with the Delta-12LFA (8ohm). I have a friend with a pair of amps for sale: A QSC PLX3402 (for the subs) and a Green Audio GAD1200 for the tops with 1200Watts. Wondering how I should set...

Re: T-39 old and new

You can use the cab with the passive along with an active with no problem. The passive crosses at about 150hz if I remember correctly and you'd certainly be crossing below that in an active setup....so, the passive never comes into play. I put a passive in my T24 for use as a drum monitor and now it...
