Re: Jack build European material

Without seeing it I don't know what you have for a 15uF cap, but the minimum allowable is 50v.

Re: Tubas - HT vs prosound

The small TT has the advantage for HT because it has a longer horn path. It also doesn't require an expensive driver for best results.

Re: Trying to dust the cobwebs off.

The T60 path is 13 feet. Add to that the distance between the subs and mains to determine how much delay to apply to the mains if you're main concern is sub/main integration. If it's live sound the mains have to be delayed to the placement of the backline amps.

Re: Building my home theater rig, Tlah, Table Tuba

Those are the same tweeters I used in my CurveArray, glued to the inside of the baffle. Using eight of them you can wire four in series to get 16 ohms, two banks wired parallel to get a total 8 ohm load.

Re: Building my home theater rig, Tlah, Table Tuba

I'd place them vertically, increasing the cab height as required.

Re: Building my home theater rig, Tlah, Table Tuba

I don't see any benefit to two tweeters per midbass. BTW, in the center use these 4 ohm tweeters. Wire four in series to get 16 ohms, the two sets parallel for an 8 ohm total load. https://www.parts-express.com/GRS-1TM-4 ... hm-292-438

Re: Building my home theater rig, Tlah, Table Tuba

Use 8 drivers. Wiring four 16 ohm drivers in parallel is 4 ohms, wiring two sets of those in series gives you 8 ohms. To make an 8 driver curve array make the top and bottom 42 inches wide, the back is 41 inches wide. The baffle end segments are still 2" wide but the end angle is 12 degrees. Otherwi...

Re: Jack 12 impedance peak(?)

Negative feedback is the feeding back of a small amount of signal from a later part of the circuit to an earlier part, usually from a tap on the output transformer back to the phase inverter. Negative feedback flattens and extends the frequency response, reduces distortion, and reduces the effective...

Re: Jack 12 impedance peak(?)

There are two impedance peaks with the J12. All ported cabs have two impedance peaks, so right off the bat the information from Traynor is inaccurate. This from the owner's manual: 'Pushing in the switch reduces the damping factor and allows the resonance of the speaker cabinet to be more pronounced...

Re: spl charts questions!

All I know is that when the word 'peak' is used in audio it's usually as a method of inflating the value.

Re: spl charts questions!

I've been using HolmImpulse for a while, though most of the older designs were measured before I had it.

Unless specified otherwise my charts are 2.83v/1m half-space, measured with a pink noise signal.

Re: What's to chat about?

Do so with pink noise and you'll see that's the case. Pink noise is used for testing because it more or less duplicates the spectral content of music. Music is never used because the content is too dynamic.

There is no mistake. The measurements were taken directly on the sketchup model. Measure your own sketchup and you'll see.
