Re: Truck Tuba in the Jeep playing
I was wondering how much clearance was needed to flip it. I have some legs already. Thanks Bill.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 8:32 am Put 1.5 inch legs on the cab, then you can flip it over.

Re: Truck Tuba in the Jeep playing
Looks great in the Liberty. Here’s mine in Ford Focus ST. Same for me, love how it sounds on Factory amp, but still might add a small amp. Love Seth’s dual tuba, too! Thanks. My little JBL DSP4086 amp works well. But my OCD has me only looking at two channel JBL amplifiers. But only will purchase a...

Re: Truck Tuba in the Jeep playing
The size of your cargo area looks to be very similar to my VW golf... 20200430_155940.jpg And I agree, it does eat up more space than I had envisioned too. Keep us updated as it comes together  I originally bought the plans to make this for my golf. I sold it before it happened but its go...

Truck Tuba in the Jeep playing
Finally got the Truck Tuba in the Jeep Liberty wired and crossovers somewhat set. Tuning is ongoing and the biggest problem is from the dash and door speakers. The subwoofer is great sounding as it sits. I have adjusted the crossover anywhere from 80Hz up to 200Hz and it simply works. Now that I see...

Re: Truck Tuba for the Jeep Liberty
WOW! So I had both channels hooked up to a two channel amp and while messing with it figured out one of the channels was not working. I wired the DVC subwoofer for a two ohm load and switched to a mono amp. With the gain at about 15% this thing rocks. Put on some Sir-Mix-a-Lot Baby got back and was ...

Re: Truck Tuba for the Jeep Liberty
I have it playing in the garage on the old home theater receiver and stand alone two channel amplifier. It started out kinda weak sounding. I let it play for 3 to 4 hours and its opening up. I assume the speaker had to loosen up some. It sounds good now. Very musical as many people say and blends ea...

Truck Tuba sanded and ready for testing.jpg Finished assembling and sanded it some. I will fix the screw holes, paint the mouth and cover the rest in gray carpet after testing. Testing will include what's recommended in the plans and putting it in my daughters SUV. She has a sealed box with a 10&qu...

Re: Truck Tuba for the Jeep Liberty
howiez - I saw your post on the other thread about utilizing the factory amp. It gave me hope that my 80 total watts would be adequate. I have all the equipment to do a dual amp install but was trying to avoid it. The DSP gives me many options. Thanks for the reply.

Truck Tuba for the Jeep Liberty
This is build with some unused 1/2" plywood I had. 5" side panels and using the Dayton Audio LS10-44 from the plans. I specifically chose the DA LS10-44 for the DVC(dual voice coil). I am using the JBL DSP4086 amplifier which is a full active 8 channel amplifier with 40 watts per channel. ...

Re: Truck Tuba needed power? What is the minimum
How about the CDT Audio listed below. https://www.cdtaudio.com/cdtnew22/products/components/woofers/midwoofers/hd6imkhr.php Silly expensive, and the Q is still too low. It should be above 0.5, preferably around 0.7, with Fs 80-90Hz. You don't need to spend more than $60. These are silly cheap. Q is...

Re: Truck Tuba needed power? What is the minimum
And please feel free to ask any questions that arise along the way. Ultimately, I know we all have a plan in our heads of how it's all going to go. It sounds like you may have your mind set on doing it a certain way and there's nothing patently wrong with that. I think we all do it. I would, howeve...

Re: Truck Tuba needed power? What is the minimum
If that's the W17RC38-04 they'd be very limited in low end, as their low Q isn't suited for car doors. F3 is probably around 130Hz, SPL at 70Hz perhaps 80dB. It is those. I have others to pick from. Higher Q is desirable? How about the CDT Audio listed below. https://www.cdtaudio.com/cdtnew22/produ...
