The sound of this cab is very broad, but even. I have to be careful not to over-cook the mids as the Alpha 8MR is quite sensitive - I hate to think how sensitive the HF drivers would be if I'd included them!
It's a very efficient cab too, and made me realise even more that the Peavey head I use at the moment is unsuitable for my playing. I found this by running my Bass through a simple PA amp made by Torque (roughly half the power handling), and preferred THAT sound.
I'm still getting used to its accuracy as I've noticed a little less performance at a particular range (low A to C#), but I expect it to be how I've set the amps up so far. The cab fills every room I've used it in, and in all honesty I think it's more than I need for a lot of stuff, and could probably easily get away with an Omni 12!
Someone offered me some free 1/2" MDF, so I couldn't look a gift horse in the mouth when I had the chance. Unfortunately that's made the cab quite heavy, but with a trolley or two people it's easy to lug around.
I can't wait to hear what a professionally made one sounds like!
