Carpet - anyone try "3 sides, one sheet"?

One other question.

The instructions on carpet coverage have you do one sheet per side, with a seam at each corner.

Is there a disadvantage to doing a single large sheet for 3 sides (with approriate cuts for fold in at the front) to avoid the seams? It seems that, done slowly and carefully, it could work, but as I haven't done this before, I'd rather learn from the experience of others. If there's a good reason why not, I'll just go with the "one sheet per side" method.

If a section should be damaged and you want to replace the rat fur, it'll be easier if you've used a separate piece for each side. Rat fur doesn't wear well, at all.

On the other hand, DuraTex can be easily touched up within minutes, as often as you want.

The more pieces you use the more seams you have, and that's where it will pull loose.

A straight adge and razor knife will address that. When I carpet I use the largest possible piece I can. Less seams = better job.
