Jack 110 x2

#1 Post by Chris_Allen »

So, it's time for some new speakers.

I needed some more as my first gig without a backline is this Friday, so naturally, I start building the speakers I need yesterday - I took the day off and started cutting wood.

I'm fortunate enough to own a table saw, so that makes things much quicker but it hadn't seen action for over a year, so it need a bit of TLC before I started.

My original plan was to build W10 and make them with a full height melded array so I could use them as tops but given the time constraints, I decided on some simpler Jack 110's with a wedge slice. I would compensate for the reduced volume by making the top of the cab deeper.

For driver choice, I already had a pair of Beta 10's but I decided to order some Fane Sovereign 10-125's. They meet the specs for Jack (just!) and have a vd of 183cc, which is higher than the 2510 and much higher than the Beta 10. If they turn out to be crap, I can always put the Beta's in. I got them on sale for £30 each.

I've taken some pictures with my iPhone (which I got covered in glue!) so I'm just waiting to get those off.

So, it would appear that all my pictures are upside down..... I'll fix that before posting anymore, they look fine on my Mac - time for more dust instead.

I think I know what happened... On the Mac, is the menu bar on the top or bottom of the screen?

Well, they are pretty much complete, just need the mounts for the piezo array and the crossover to do. I'll still post the pics in order to pretend I'm still going but here's one with the wings on....
photo (2).JPG
Just a shame I had cut the wings wrong and had to rip them off to put new ones on..... Grrrr.....

Don't worry, you're not the first to have one of those moments

More times than I'd care to count I've screwed up the wings.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

Lookin' good Chris. When you build them that fast, they're supposed to look worse than mine. Damn you.

"Aaarrggghhh F%$k it :chainsaw: " - when you discover the PL was applied 24 hrs prior.
