DR200s and Slim T60s

#1 Post by DJ Higgumz »

Bought the plans today for DR200s and T60, and I plan on the following orientations-

DR200 - 2 with beta 8 and full flat array. i would do the melded, but from what i understand in smaller rooms the wide dispersion causes a lot of reverberation. would it be better value to go with the 18 sound driver? how many tweeters would i need to keep up with it?

T60 - 4 20" lab 12 loaded, only loading 2 for now, then adding the next two as money allows.

I may build custom lighting case with lights and tripods all in it, and also an all in one rack housing my large mixer, 19'' rack equip, tower computer, and midi controller. it all depends on :broke:. i would love to just plug in power and speakers and be ready to go!

i hope to build after the 2nd of june, got a high paying lock-in hopefully in place. :fingers:

what are your thoughts on these configurations?

I would think that you would need four DR200's
2 - OTop8
2 - T39
8 - DR200
2 - DR250
9 - T24
6 - T45
1 - Auto Tuba

would I? i've been doing gigs with no more than 300 ppl. how is the 18 sound upgrade compared to two cabs, beta loaded. i know there will be smoothed response, but besides that, what would be the advantage?

The advantage would probably be in being able to give the cab more voltage and getting more output from the cabs.Thats a weird combo,DR200's and T60's,there is no way 2 DR200's are gonna keep up with 4 T60's,especially using Beta drivers.Word of advice, use a recommended driver but i take it u know what u need. When i built my cabs i kept in mind that i would use these for the rest of my life so why skimp ? Spend the money if u can,its well worth it.

Use the Delta Pro 8 it's like $30 more each cab. And it is according to Bill FAR more suitable for the Dr200 than the Beta 8. Also how close are your audiences? Because the melded array (even though it hits the walls more) will be a better choice if people are within 30 ft of the tops. You can fix reflection with EQ, you can't fix dispersion. Also everyone is going to be moving around anyway. You want a sweeter area not a sweet spot.

With beta 8's you will need 4. With the delta pro's 2 might keep up, higher max spl because of power handling. And yes for 300 a pair should be enough. But 4 t60's is complete overkill for 300, so we're recommending more DR's for that reason.

I don't think it would cost me much more to build the boxes, so I'll build 4 and load 2 like with the t60s. Then I would do 2 melded and 2 flat.

at speakerhardware, there's the two choices of casters, 2 1/2 inch and 3 inch. i personally like the black look of the smaller and also the price. would there be any problems with them on a t60? i hope for some quick replies, i'm ordering the t60 stuff right now :hyper:

I used the 2.5" casters on my dual TT. They buzz a lot at high volume. At really high volume the rattle is drowned out however. If there are some casters that have special bushings that don't rattle, get them instead.

If they are also used as cabinet feet, will they still rattle?

Yes, I used two swiveling casters and two straight casters.

I have swivel casters on my T 48's and when i crank them those casters spin like roller skates.i just put a piece of duct tape on them to stop the spinning.
