So I started the 48 build yesterday morning and have plenty of pressboard and decided to build the first 1 out of it before I buy the good stuff and I am very happy with it so far, it is almost half way done. This eneving when I get home I will finish it. :hyper:  :loler:

Cool, hope the rest of the build goes well.

Just out of curiosity. Why not use the suggested plywood? I'd guess it will be more prone to leaks and the cab might actually rip itself apart over time with pressed wood.

You're talking about this stuff, right?:

We've started a betting pool on the number of splinters you get.......the over/under is currently at 124.....

6 - T39 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512
1 - T24
1 - SLA Pro
2 - XF210

Not to be negative...but all I can see is lots of tooth picks and a shredded driver using that wood. T48's are no joke!...they WILL crack sheet rock at will, a V plated stack of 6 can make one lose control of their bladder if standing to close...not to mention that T48's can make booze dance off the shelf of the bar next door ;)

Do you run a boarding up company?

Fair play mate. Just wish I had the time to do practice runs.

After I am done I am just gonna keep it for a model to show the cops that the sound is coming from this except made with real wood . But no really I am buying the real wood this weekend, I just did it for a mock up to show my lumber guy what we are building, He is my neighbor with the sawmill. I do believe we are gonna use regular plywood but also cover it with cedar planks we cut , should smell really good

Ok I got it done yesterday and tried it last nite and with no crossover it sounds great for what it is made of. I screwed a inline car non adjustable cross over to the back of it and it made a lot of difference but still it is a car unit non adj. :horse:
I am buying 1 this coming weekend, all in all I am very happy with this toothpick build and after all it was stuff left over from hurricane charlie! After all it was junk wood and we wanted to build it out of scrap first with a junk driver and if there was a problem we could just set it a blaze  I wall loaded it and it did sound good , but I need to get the levels of my mids and highs down but will the crossover do it or do I need a crossover and something else? :?: I am looking at a rdl stick on series stcx1 or a 2 for a crossover , just no sure of this.
I would like to get my electronics out of the way first..

This is for your stereo, correct? If so, then a Dayton sub plate amp, or Bash, or ....shoot, I forget the other one, will do the cross-over for you and supply the power. The next step up might be a DCX2496 along with a separate power amp.

I found I needed to apply some EQ to tame the rising sensitivity of the box along with the crossover. I'm crossing mine up around 120 these days though and letting my tops run down to 100Hz. My OT12's start rolling at 120ish so I use the T48 to fill in some there on what really needs it. With a steep slope and an 80Hz crossover you could possibly live without EQ.

I am one of the pickier around here though. I recently switched to some nice Beyma CD drivers and run my rig biamped. I'm now quite happy with the OT12's where I was merely satisfied before.
