I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS! I started with a fresh panel, drew everything out again, drilled everything again, and mis-cut the access panel.....AGAIN!!! This time on a different linedoncolga wrote:I just mis cut my access panel. Maybe this is a sign I should do one at t ime instead of two...
One looks fine, the other has just one bad cut, but I don't see how I could work around this. Starting over on this one.
Hey man! Yes, they're sorted out and I have two ready to build with nicely cut access panels, plus four pairs of rough cut panels. I didn't go nuts at all and I was pretty calm. On the first one I just put everything down and went over to my mom's to help her with some flooring. I came back after a couple hours and started again. The second one was more frustrating, but I was still pretty chill. I hope to make some good progress today.Titanium Hand wrote:Donny, You poor bugger! Hope you get that access panel sorted out soon. Sounds like you've been progressing well otherwise. I'm glad my cabs didn't have such crucial access panels.
On a more personal note: Did you go nuts throwing stuff around, kicking your dog and screaming at your saw or take on a more sombre defeated outlook on the mistake?
It sounds like you did neither and handled it really well, big props to you for harnessing the beast known as self control.
Best of luck on the rest of your build, I'm well interested in your opinion of sound from the wider cabs opposed to your 18's
Thanks man! I believe cutting less will be a good thing. Once panel 4 is in place I'm going to go ahead and do the reducers. I'm going to draw lines for them and countersink some holes to screw those in, same as all the other panels. It will be good to get that critical part of the project done.Tom Smit wrote:If that works better for you, why not? It's essentially the same thing.
That comes with experience. Once you've built a few the time drops significantly.bassmonster wrote:Geez, you really get a lot of stuff done in an hour compared to me. It takes me a whole hour to cut braces to fit and attach a single panel.
Fortunately I'm experiencing that. I'm still being very careful as I go but it feels quicker than my first two T30's. Two panel 2's went up nicely last evening and I worked slowly, still aiming to keep my time to about one hour. That time included carefully chiseling the PL squeeze out from panel two panel 1's, cutting two panel 2's, clamping everything down, drilling pilot holes for the vertical and horizontal joins, then gluing and screwing it all down. Very happy so far. I'm aiming for at least two panel 3's this evening.Jon Barnhardt wrote:That comes with experience.
