Actually, in the interest of time management, it makes sense. Not sure that option would have occurred to me. Clever. You can always drill/plunge through, route out the access hole with a flush cut bit, and make a flange/hatch cover later.

As a note: it has been a topic of discussion that an annual snugging of fasteners has commonly proven that it was actually needed. Just keep it in mind.

That is absolutely true. I went through all my subs a couple of years ago - every one of 'em needed tightening......leaving off the access cover is not a good idea.

Question- will I ever want to place these on their sides? We will probably button them up tomorrow and i'm wondering if I should install feet on one of the sides just in case. Would be much easier to do before closing them... and if i have them on the sides, would I want to mirror them? That is, have the bottoms facing each other?

If you put on plastic cab corners, you will be covered. https://www.speakerhardware.com/hardwar ... t-corners/

If your width dimension is less than your cab height, I could see putting them on their side to fit under something. Otherwise, as far as I know, it doesn't matter which side is up.

Yes, it seems to be easy enough to add the access door later if needed. Seems it might be hard to get a both good seal and tight fit.

Just got the 1/4” lag bolts in. Torqued to 5.5 nvm seems good will torque again before gluing side on

Tom's right.....specifically, these corners... https://www.speakerhardware.com/penn-el ... corner.php

The great thing about these is that they not only serve to protect the cab on it's side, but you can stack the cabs on there side and they lock in. I've been doing that for years when I take out the full rig of T39s.

I have rubber feet on the bottom of my T30s that match the height of the casters on the back corners. I also have the plastic corners for when laying them on their side. You could always throw a cheap yoga mat underneath to protect a floor, and it will also help prevent them from walking around when they're pounding away. As for rubber feet, I have bought the 1.5 inch ones from Reliable Hardware off Amazon. Great solid, chunky feet, and cheap - usually about $5 for 8.

I had originally bought those corners but it seemed like the roundover on them was huge- like maybe a 5/8 inch radius... seems like we would be compromising the strength of the box to put such a huge roundover on the edges... that's why I decided to go with the flat corners...

I changed all my corner to what Bruce posted and haven't looked back. Metal ones are for guitar or bass cabs :fruit:

3/8" roundover is plenty for those big corners. I've got 48 of 'em attached to my 6 T39s.
