Actually, in the interest of time management, it makes sense. Not sure that option would have occurred to me. Clever. You can always drill/plunge through, route out the access hole with a flush cut bit, and make a flange/hatch cover later.Rob Shasta Guitjr wrote:Wed Feb 03, 2021 10:19 am Hello Seth, this is Rob. There is a little over an hour and a mountain pass between Ashland and Mount Shasta. Between foul-weather and the shop production schedule, we will be closing these up this weekend. Bold move, but there will be no access port.
That is absolutely true. I went through all my subs a couple of years ago - every one of 'em needed tightening......leaving off the access cover is not a good idea.
If you put on plastic cab corners, you will be covered. https://www.speakerhardware.com/hardwar ... t-corners/Pabloaguas wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 10:33 pm Question- will I ever want to place these on their sides? We will probably button them up tomorrow and i'm wondering if I should install feet on one of the sides just in case. Would be much easier to do before closing them... and if i have them on the sides, would I want to mirror them? That is, have the bottoms facing each other?

As a note: it has been a topic of discussion that an annual snugging of fasteners has commonly proven that it was actually needed. Just keep it in mind.
Was planning to use these big-ol penn elcom metal corners and rubber feetTom Smit wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 10:35 pmIf you put on plastic cab corners, you will be covered. https://www.speakerhardware.com/hardwar ... t-corners/Pabloaguas wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 10:33 pm Question- will I ever want to place these on their sides? I had originally bought those corners but it seemed like the roundover on them was huge- like maybe a 5/8 inch radius... seems like we would be compromising the strength of the box to put such a huge roundover on the edges... that's why I decided to go with the flat corners...Bruce Weldy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 9:51 amTom's right.....specifically, these corners... https://www.speakerhardware.com/penn-el ... corner.phpTom Smit wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 10:35 pm

The great thing about these is that they not only serve to protect the cab on it's side, but you can stack the cabs on there side and they lock in. I've been doing that for years when I take out the full rig of T39s.

3/8" roundover is plenty for those big corners. I've got 48 of 'em attached to my 6 T39s.Pabloaguas wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 4:17 pm
