Wi, try turning your THT's around, with the mouths firing into the corner of the room. I believe you will hear and feel a difference.

Wi, Thanks for doing a review in the quick time frame. Pretty cool, a two part review, the set-up, then the actual gig. Looking forward to it... can't wait to hear about it. Oh yeah... lookin' good!!!

Question? Why no access panel cover?

+1... THT's are 36" deep which puts the radiating plane over 2.5 feet from the nearest boundary, remember Bill's "prime directive" from the sub placement sticky:
though, with four of them in a room that small I'm sure you didn't notice. If there is a 'prime directive' when it comes to sub placement it is this: Never place subs with their radiating planes between 2.5 feet and 8 feet of a boundary.
I just did a halloween party at at my house with a single T18 corner loaded and held 110+ db at the "dance floor" (my living room) all night long with no fuss...I can't imagine what 4 THT's sounded like in that small room.

X3. I DEFINITELY hear and feel a difference in my THT having them firing into a wall. In my room, 9.5" from wall seems to be ideal. YMMV.DJPhatman wrote:Wi, try turning your THT's around, with the mouths firing into the corner of the room. I believe you will hear and feel a difference.

Wii,
Fire the 2 THT's into the wall, or better yet, one corner of the room like Myn and Rubicon said. Definitely have the mouth pointed towards a solid surface (big difference!). 4 THT's may sound tempting at first, but Bruce or Bill can fill you in on how much dB you'll actually get. It isn't much considering the mouth of the THT is undersized to start out with. All that is gained is power handling, but not much in sensitivity.
As for the OT's, make sure to point them at the audience somehow. Stacking them like you had in the photo where one is pointing off into the stratosphere (above everyone's head) is wasted power. If a OT is higher than the audience's average height, then it should be tilted down a few degrees to get the arrays firing into the crowd. I can't remember of your OT212's had any high frequency section installed yet. If not, park those beast right at chest level and let 'em rip!
Glad to hear it went well, bum deal with the amp
. How'd the processor work for you? Did you try raising your X-over point for the subs? Have you heard Cyclops by Distance?

Glad to see that my suggestion of using separate speakers for Tracks & Vocals worked out for you.WiSounds wrote:In the audience, the MCs were spot on. The bottom one had the highs.
In your original set up thread, I forgot that the THTs are less efficient than Titans, and that you are using Low efficiency drivers in them as well.
One T48 would be too much in that room, but you probably need all 8 THTs to get the level you want.
Remember that doubling the box count gets you another 3db, which is a barely noticeable increase to most people.
Glad to hear that you got a repeat booking. Keep speading the BF Love.

Considering the benefits of boundary loading, all of my subs will now have speakons on the horn mouth side as well as the back. I did it first with my T18's and I'll never go back. It makes cornerloading so much easier and less worrisome.WiSounds wrote: I could fire the subs against the wall, but I was worried about people banging up the speakons. It probably would be worth the extra cpl of db sensitivity if I flipped them around. I may try it at the next show if it happens.
For you it would be simple since you run yours with the access plate removed. Just add a jack on the front.
Look ma,
No wires...

I'm thinking you might have a grand idea with jacks in the horn mouth.
I'm always worried about some numb-nutz stepping on my exposed Speakon plugs during a performance.
Located inside the horn mouth, they would be out of harm's way.

+1 on speakons in the mouth being a great idea. It'd be easy enough to install in the corner plate of a T48 and parallel them with the plate in back. Quick retrofit that'd be super helpful for the wall and corner loads. I have all the same concerns about people busting off a speakon connector.
