what setting for limiters

#1 Post by Scott Brochu »

On my DCX 2496 it has limiter capibility but I do not know how to set it and how high to put it. I have blown 2 speakers and do not plan on blowing another.
I see on the DCX screen that there is box with a line through it kitty corner but do not know how to set it...Lets just leave it at I do not know. :oops:

Someone out there must be using the same drive rack and give me some advice. I mean it isn't suppose to change every venue is it?

Thanks

I also have the DCX. Here's the discussion that ensued when I posted about limiter settings recently: http://billfitzmaurice.net/phpBB3/viewt ... f=6&t=8755

Thanks David, I did follow that thread but got confused.
But if that is the way than I will print off and try. Should it be any different for Behringer tops compared to 200's?

let me try this and I will get back to this thread. We are not going to have full equipment out for a few weeks so it will be a while.
Thanks David. :wink:

Sorry to side line, Dave , did anyone ever answer your question about release time for the limiter settings? I noted some strange behaviour when setting up the upper band limiter, wondered if it had any thing to do with release time at higher freq.

Nope. I don't recall ever getting an answer on that.

Calling all DCX 2496 owners

I did not want to start another thread on this subject, it does have stuff about a limiters.
OK
fine tuning the DCX........... Well lets just say figuring out. :lol:

I need to know if this stuff is right;
On the screen for the subs for limiters it reads
Thresh: -0.0. dB
Rel: (I got it at) 503

^^^right, please correct

Polarity phase ????Normal? <<<for subs/mains/monitors.

Input source screen, should it read 0.0 dB's for gain and what is the correct type for monitors? is it Mid or Mid highs?

X over points screen reads;
type; L-R48 type; L-R48
Freq; 135Hz Freq; 16.9Khz
^^^monitors/subs/ mains what should it read for each?

Dynamic eq;
Thresh; -0.1dB
Ratio; -2.0:1
Attack; 71m5
Release; 501m5

^^^^for subs/mains/ monitors what should this read?

I know I am asking a lot out of some but just think of it as a lot of questions I would of asked in about....a year all rolled up in one night. On this subject. :lol:

I thank anyone who takes the time and answers me and my stupidity. I think this is why my lead singer wanted to buy a destroyer. Cause things are not set right.
If I can get through this with the right settings I think I am on my way a lot better than I was a yr ago.
