Are 1 3/16" brads an acceptable substitution for the 1 1/4" length specified in the TT plans?
I couldn't find any 1.25" long ones at my local harbor freight.
1 3/16" 18 gauge brads acceptable as substitute for 1.25"?

Thanks for the confirmation
.
I went and tested my $14.99 nail gun (harbor freight coupon). Seems to work really good (so far). I drove 100 1 3/16" 18 ga brads into 1.5" MDF. This should hopefully speed things up for me, instead of using screws.

I also didn't see any mention in the plans about how conservative you should be with the PL adhesive. How wide of a bead should be applied and should excess squirting out the sides be expected or ?
The reason I ask is the plans mentioned using a guideboard in alot of cases which is great except won't the excess PL adhesive leak and stick to the adjoining guideboard?

I use about a 3/16" bead on all the seams. You want even squeeze out along every joint. The guide board I use for supporting panels during assembly has a 1/2" chamfer along all the two "bottom" edges. That keeps it out of the PL.myn wrote:I also didn't see any mention in the plans about how conservative you should be with the PL adhesive. A not-so-elegant solution is just to use wax paper around the guide board. This prevents the board from sticking to the joint as well. You may have to scrape off a bit of wax paper after the PL dries, but that's no big deal.

I wrap mine in Glad Wap ( food wrap ) but I think the chamfer is a better idea really. My guide board only stays there for a minute or so before I move onto the next operation.David Carter wrote:A not-so-elegant solution is just to use wax paper around the guide board.
