Are there handles anywhere on these? Maybe the back?
Exactly! Using the ports as handles because it was easy & cheap... I mean free.

I actually may end up putting handles on these (when I get some time away from finishing my 2 tuba-24's), because they don't carry very easily, as I found out.

So where did you put the ports?

The ports are on the back, vertically on the left and right side. Actually, my main intention for doing this is because most of the time, the speakers are on the left and right of me...right in line with my DJ booth and mic, and I was a little concerned that that if the ports were on the side, I would be getting a lot of feedback. I don't know if this would be true or not, but I don't have any problems with it the way it is now.

The port output frequencies are omni-directional.

I use this page to get a good idea of percent open area for a large assortment of grill sizes. It doesn't have metric sizes though.

If the grill covers the complete front of a cab, I don't think the different percentages are a concern. The reason being the front of the cab area is so much larger than the slot or driver cone.

I went to that page, the most open grill they spec is a hexagonal perf at 80% open. The 8mm round perf ones people are using are just 63% open. I would think that much loss may be a problem.
