Thanks Tom, I did read that from some of the other post. I have a a small recording studio that is very quiet and I will break them in there. I have some tones on my computer that I plan to run through a small amp. I will use a similar system to test the tweeters while I am doing the cosmetic work on the cabs. Leland is out of duratek at this time so I will have some time on my hands. I do have a friend who owns a custom rod sales and parts store. He was telling me about a two part mixture that he has used on all of his display. I dries in 4 sec and has a thick elastic rubber feel that is very strong and tough and can be mixed to any color. I might consider this. It is used in custom truck beds. Just a thought. Phil

Hi everyone, I am getting ready to finish the back and extended sides. What is the best way to mount the plugins. I am using #2 1/4in .
I am interested in some thing holding up to light use. I have seen several cases where they just recessed a box or recessed just the plugins or used a commertial part. Any Thoughts? Phil

Yes, I have a thought. Either install speakon combo (speakon and 1/4") jack, or just a speakon jack. Do not use just 1/4" jacks. First reason, it looks more "professional", second reason is 1/4" jacks leave you with only a knife blade's width electrical contact, hardly enough for efficient power transfer, and third, versatility. With the combo jacks, you can plug almost any speaker wire into it, in a pinch.

Hi everyone, I have just finished testing and breaking in the tweeter and drivers. 3 of the tweeters had problems. two cones were not connected, a little glue fixed that and one was just fuzzy sounding I took it apart cleaned it and reassembled it and it was fine. One thing I did right was to order a few extra tweeters to make up for the things I did wrong, best extra $5 I spent. I broke in the driver as directed in the forum. I finished building the crossovers and filters, tested them with the speakers NOT installed yet, and every thing worked ok. I can hardly wait to give them a test run. I am finishing the finish work for the boxes. Still have a little bondo to use to make everything smooth. I am planning to prime them in flat black and the duratex thick coat is on order. I am planning to spray them. I am have some trouble with photo bucket but will get some pictures up soon. I am hoping to use the speakers in a small coffee house setting next month. Our old Peavys sound poor even at low volume setting. The following month we are are having a small outdoor concert. Any way I can incorporate the Peavys into the mix for the out side event as some tuba wanta be? Mainly acustic Christan music. I need to get started on my tuba end tables soon. I think If I add #2 tuba 24 I will have a respectable sound for small venues.
Later in the summer my old high school group is playing for our 40th class reunion, yes I am a 69er. Last year we got together and produced a CD of our old tunes and some new originals that we are going to give everyone. Our CD turned out much better that anyone expected and with the help of alcohol in large amounts we should sound good this summer as well. They need to cooperate and start drinking very early in the day. I'll set up a utube of the CD sometime. Phil

You are, coils should be oriented to minimize induction ( transformer effect )

My DR 250's are now ready to paint and it is 28 degree and snowing outside. I just finished setting the top hats in the access panels. The routing gig is very handy to get a good fit with the 3 degree angle. I am planing to put a flat black primer then a quick standing and the then durateck HB but I need it to warm up first. http://billfitzmaurice.net/phpBB3/posti ... =16&t=7725#

Then I need to start the tuba or titans. They will be used for a coffee house setting, church around 70-100 people and a rare outside concert about a 100 people. (Contemporary religious music and the occasion blue grass setting). I am thinking about a couple tuba 24 for my next build . For subs, I'd be inclined to say T39 will be better performers for the kind of music you play.
