Duratex or equivalent in NZ/OZ

I've been experimenting with this coating, Easytread http://www.phoenixpaints.com.au/m_04_06.html Altho I haven't road tested it yet, it seems really good. It finishes in a texture, there is another coating they do called Hardpave which may be even better depending what your application is and what sort of finish you want.

I've just finished my tuba's with it on the outside. I like it, it goes on really thick and leaves a nice textured finish. Bit hard to see in these photo's but you can get an idea. Is a water based pavement coating btw.

What slightly put me off the first time you suggested this product was the colors on the website, the black looking quite purpleish to me. But it doesn't look that way at all on your Tubas!
I've contacted the NZ distributor to find out about availability and prices, so hopefully finishing of my cabs will finally happen!

Don't worry, it's definately black. Unlike most paint's, the trick to getting this even, is not a few thin coat's. Dump a biq load on the surface and then just even it out. It likes to go on thick so ... I used just under 4 liters to do the outside of 4 tuba's, just to give you some idea. Is not super cheap but offers a good thick protective coating.

Just thought to add, it's a bit tricky getting an even textured finish. Re~reading the container, it says roll on one coat in one direction and then a second coat in the other direction. I didn't have enough for 2 coats but still got fairly good results doing just one coat. Will probably do another coat sometime in the future anyway.

Cool! I got a phone call from the distributor in NZ, and it's NZD85/4L.
Only problem being out of stock for the black one at the moment, but I can wait a bit more for next shipment, no rush.

I'm considering un-ratfur'ing my OT12 that doesn't look that flash, and EasyTread it to match the T39 if I'm happy with the result.

No worries, have fun un~ratfurring your ot's That is one job I have done once before that I never want to have to do again ! It's hard getting the surface smooth again, maybe a belt sander with course paper but the glue clogs everything up pretty quick. A good thing about this coating is it goes on literally like thick black mud, and so is easy to do a thick coating to cover up any surface imperfections.

You might also want to try their 'hard~pave', I haven't tried it yet but is maybe also good, perhaps even as a second coat ?

Thanks. I'd like to un-ratfur my DR but very hesitant, not sure if it's a good thing to do. Any more tips and tricks on un-ratfurring are more than welcome.

It's REALLY hard to ship anything like duratex overseas. Even though it's msds is pretty benign, liquids and USPS just don't mix. Customs folks get kind of testy also. If there was a way to do it at a reasonable price, I'd have found it by now.

I bought some Hippoliner from Supercheap Auto's on the weekend and have covered an old cabinet that I'm getting ready to sell (so I can build some BFM's).
It came up quite well.
