you know - every time i try to settle on a project - you super creative guys throw a cool little wrench in
SO
I have to ask a few questions about this build.
Since I am using an amp that has an internal crossover (range 100hz to 1000hz) and two separate amps (hi amp 100W 8 ohms only, Low amp 200W@ ohm and 300W @ 4ohm - GK800RB) I'm trying to make since of this crazy dual Omni driver talk. Currently I'm choosing between a straight-up omni15TB with a 3015LF in the sub section and this crazy omni12 with the two tens in the sub section.
1. Would the Basslite 2010 performance be at or above the BP102 in this box given the voltage that I'm trowing at it?
2. would an Omni12 with the 2 10s (be they basslite 2010s or bp102s with 300 watts RMS) be comparable to the performance of an O15TB with the formentioned 3015lf driver in the sub section?
if the difference is in the 3db area in the sub 250hz area - and the basslites can be at or better than the 102's then I'll lean to this Omni12 210 build due to it's lighter weight and small form factor.
thanks for the help guys.

I do that Tim...I just wasn't thinking at the time.
Do you run that straight router bit on every edge no matter what? If you see its good with a square, do still?

I ain't Tim, but yes. Identical to the way I do it. Every edge.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

Yes. I figure this way: It's in the router and takes a couple of minutes. May as well do it.

Almost. With a pair of S2010 you can run to 200 watts without exceeding xmax, with BP102 300 watts. One 3015LF will go to the full 450 watts, which doesn't matter much if you only have 200 anyway. O15 only has the decided advantage when you've got at least 300 watts into 8 ohms capability or more from your amp.bassjunkie wrote: would an Omni12 with the 2 10s (be they basslite 2010s or bp102s with 300 watts RMS) be comparable to the performance of an O15TB with the formentioned 3015lf driver in the sub section?

I'm following this thread with great interest. While being conscious that the HL10C is discontinued, how would it perform in this box?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Whoa, thanks Bill. Just thought since they seem to be well regarded in for use in the Titans, the same could apply here.
So I know part of the equation of a good driver for a sub is the higher Vd, does this only apply to subs with longer horns? What are the other parameters involved?

Re: Omni 12 2-10?...yup.
Today's update.
No router so I had to do it all by hand using my orbital sander. Broke a sweat but I think it looks pretty good overall. Painting tomorrow morning.
I'm kind of concerned with the insides of the horns. There's a lot of PL lining the joints and it's a PITA trying to get it out of there. I'm going to try painting it and see how that looks but if I'm not satisfied I'll probably build little grills and put petscreen covers over them. Actually I might do that anyway because I think it might look kind of cool. Any last minute suggestions for me on getting the insides of my horns looking good?
Here's the pix. The wood looks a little splotchy because I just wiped it down with a damp rag to get the sanding dust off.

I've got a gallon of the stuff. Think that'll be enough?

Re: Omni 12 2-10?...yup.
To get rid of the extra PL, get a chisel and run it along the joints. After you get the hang of it you'll find it peels off pretty readily.
If you leave it like that, put a coat of flat latex paint over the PL first. Duratex doesn't stick to PL very well.

The construction is finished. Wiring up the crossover and speakers tonight. Woo Hoo!
