The BTT

#1 Post by N.Webber »

Hi,

Just an update on a small project of mine, the BTT (Balanced Tilter II)

I am in the middle of fabricating the parts for the prototype.
Gigs preventing me from progressing as quickly as I would have liked... :(

You can see some more details and discussion here at PSW http://srforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/t/38874/6698/.

Excellent! I wouldn't mind a pair of those myself.

Ingenius!
My biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my toys for what I said I paid for them.

You think of beautiful additions to the cabs :)

I guess one would need different models depending on how high the center of gravity is in the box, if I got it right?

It depends...
This was my answer to the same question at PSW:

"The BTT is not (yet…) a universal solution. I did mention it was designed to suit my cabs.
They are all DIYs. BFM DR290s and my own design 12" monitors that double as small PA/satellite cabs.

The average COG height of these is 285mm from the bottom.
So this is the height of the 'virtual' center of this design.

Though, because of the shallow tilt angle, any COG height within ±85mm around that height should be OK.
This is because though off of the true center of the pole, it still falls inside the 35mm diameter of the pole/tube.
So for practical purposes, I think they can be considered as properly balanced."

I'm impressed, you really thought this through. I could have known, the design looks pro, and so was your approach for the hanging cabs.

I'm very interested in this project, please keep us posted when they're built, and if you intend to sell afterward.
