Remove screws, fill holes with bondo - needed for carpet?

Helpful hints on how to build 'em, and where to get the stuff you need.

Remove screws, fill holes with bondo - needed for carpet?

#1 Post by kesslari »

Hi,

Omni instructions mention filling the screw heads with bondo, and I've seen some references to removing the screws and filling the holes with bondo.
Is this just for a duratex/paint finish (makes sense there, for a quality even finish) or is it also necessary for a carpeted finish?

Build day tomorrow, if health and weather hold up...
Wish me luck!

JK

Either countersink screws and leave them in, or use flathead screws and take them out. It's up to you. Either way, fill the holes.

I pull screws near edges that might get hit by a router roundover bit. Otherwise leave them in, bondo them over.
