help cutting metal grill

#1 Post by bubblersound »

I bought 22x30" metal grills and wanted to know how do you guys cut them to specific sizes. I'm trying to get 2 grills (21x14" each) from this for a pair of OT12's. What tools do I need to get a nice cut? Thanks.

I use a metal cutting blade in a circular saw. Hand dressing of the sharp edge is mandatory after making the cut.

If you have access to a bending brake, that puts the sharp edge inside the cab and out of harm's way.
My biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my toys for what I said I paid for them.

I use a jigsaw with metal blade. Just make sure its clamped down so it doesn't jump everywhere.

Too bad you are so far away my 52" shear would make a nice cut. Hmm maybe I'm the one thats so far away I'm in the the middle of nowhere. I even have a pan and box blade for my 48" brake but I wonder what the shipping to nowhere and back would be.

I've used an angle grinder before both the makita and the cheap chineez air ones, 3" wheel and look out for the sparks! I reccommend goggles and a full face shield.
There is no technical problem however complex, that cannot be solved or finessed by a direct application of brute strength and ignorance.
