Audio interface as a simple dj mixer?

#1 Post by Lesknow »

Heynow! I find myself shopping for both a recording interface and a two channel mixer at the same time. I've looked for answers elsewhere but none of them match up exactly & this forum has always had my back :cowboy:
The only thing I'd use a mixer for is for music playback from laptops & phones into a driverack - amp - OT8/T39 setup. DJ mixers have way more features than I need & I'm thinking I can use the interface for both projects. So at the moment I'm looking at either the SSL2 or the UA Volt 2. A 3.5mm output will apparently put out more voltage than mic level signals & each of the two combination input channels would have a gain adjustment to match outputs on the fly...to me it'd be the same as plugging in a phone to listen through powered monitors like I always do, with the ability to switch between two similar sources. Cha think, can I save a hundred bucks?
Tx!
Rob

I do love the form of the SSL2, with everything on top.

Do you have a link or a brand name to go with the model numbers?

Nevermind.....I found 'em.

Either one should be fine. Just be sure that you use TRS/TRS or TRS/XLR for connecting to the Driverack.

Is this the question? When I look them up, they seem to be comparably priced.
What do you intend to record?
Two 2x6 shorty SLA Pro's
One T39, 16", 3012LF loaded
Tall AutoTuba, 20" wide, 2x 8" MCM 55-2421
TruckTuba, 8½" wide, 2x 8" MCM 55-2421

I think he means saving a hundred by using one of these two vs. a DJ controller...

Ah, yeah... I see it now. Your level of comprehension has been off the charts lately. Send me some of whatever vitamin and supplement regimen you've been following.

Ha....no, I thought the same thing you did when I looked up the two devices.....

No vitamin will do it, just many decades of deciphering what people mean, not necessarily what they say.
