I’m still trying decide between the THTLP and the long TT, and I guess that’s just a decision I’ll have to make on my own since it’s so subjective!

For either build, I ultimately want it to look like a piece of furniture. To do that the way I want, I need the horn mouth to fire down toward the floor. But I don’t want it to be up on stilts! How much distance do I have to have from the mouth to the floor? I know the plans for the THTLP say 16-24”, but what would the consequences be if it was 6-8”? What can I get away with without significant losses in some aspect of performance? Or does this matter at all?

The back of the cabinet will be 1-2” from the wall, and the nearest adjacent walls will be 8-10 feet away.

Too close to the floor would affect response. If you can't mount it on legs aim it upward.

Sounds like I’ll just have to try it to quantify the losses if it can’t be predicted. I can’t fire it upwards - has to be side, front, or down. With down being the best option aesthetically.

Slats will restrict the mouth area.

I can see that. I was thinking if the slats were elevated above the mouth by at least the thickness / depth of the slats. (1" x 2" boards 2" above the mouth, for example.)

Adding that space to the empty spaces between the slats themselves should increase the ability to pass air. Perhaps make the slats out of a narrower wood and increase the size of the spaces? Idk. This looks like a job for...SUPER SETH! lol

If little legs are a "no go" when pointing the sub downwards,
Could we do something like the legs on the David's with a full sheet on the front and back, leaving the sides open.

I'm not sure how tall the opening would have to be, but It might be an option.

If you block a section then it would have to be placed higher.
