Driverack PA 110 to 240V Conversion

Hi Folks
I did the 240V conversion to the Driverack on the weekend. Pretty simple process once you have the transformers. I couldn't get a direct replacement so I had to get two separate transformers. One is a 10V secondary and the other a dual 17V secondary.
I started by removing the screws on the side.



Then the centre top allen screw only



Remove the top cover to expose the torodial transformer on the right



Unplug the connector, remove the transformer and cut the connector off it (point of no return )



Wire the two new transformers primary windings together and fit spade connectors



Solder the secondary windings to the connector



Put a few strips of double sided tape on the underside of the transformers



Mount the transformers and plug the connector back in. A few strips of double sided tape with the one side covering strips still on secures them further.



Power back up (with the cover back on) and its good to go



Hope this is of some use as the Driverack only cost US$148.00 and about $120 for transformers and freight etc. as opposed to $550 in Australia.

I couldn't find anywhere to get a 240V version from, at least not for anything close to that cost

My system is just getting better by the day, our drummer just purchased a new Berringer X32 producer desk and dropped it off to me to setup for the band

Looks cool. But I can't help thinking you've gone overboard on the VA rating on those trannies. The dual 17V probably powers the audio circuits, and I'm guessing a 15VA tranny would have sufficed. The 10V winding is probably for the 5V supply to the digital circuits, and most likely that would require something in the same realm.

Not that it matters, but I'd be a bit wary of the transformers coming loose in a mobile scenario.

You are 100% correct Rune , it is WAAAAAAY overrated, but they were all I could find in stock, in Australia, on that day
Don't worry the transformers are nice and snug in there, they wont go anywhere.
