I have a couple pics relative to this thread:

My first attempt at using veneer. Its a THT with ebony and maple veneer.

And a pair of speakers I acquired by trading the THT above. These were allegedly the original prototypes for Nearfield Acoustics "Pipedreams" which sold for a crazy amount of money. Ebay has a set for $89,900. My nephew knocked one of them over and broke the baffle. I stripped the components for other projects. I still have ALL of the tweeters laying around.

2 THTs, 2 TLAH, SLA curved, 1 8-AT, 1 AT JBL 1002D, 4 Otop12s, Jack 12, TT with Eminence 10", 2 SLAs, 1 T30 slim, 2 T30s (2-10" each), SLA Pros, TrT.

Whatever you say, dude. Your original post (doesn't) speak(s) for itself.

Wouldn't the compression and rarefaction of the air make the thing move though? Or has the levitating bit has got too much of an impedance mismatch with air to make this a non-issue?? What about the vibration going through the cables - they could use bluetooth to avoid this   The magnetic flux to hold that up must be pretty high too. It's probably an ultra- stationary (cryogenicall cooled?) 'tuned' flux that provides "hairy bass, with a trimmed midrange and fluffy treble". Half baked product being sold to fully baked purchasers! Looks cool though (and that sells!). And this is at the cheap end of their range. $100k for a gramophone record player, anyone?? :wall:

This is the point where someone mentions that these maglev tables are actually pretty good, and I look a twat! Hopefully not :fingers: To me it just seems a means to provide rich boys with a game of one-upmanship over who likes music the most. To win just spend more on kit than the other guy. However on this site we all know that it ain't the size of your boat... it's the motion of the ocean.

I keep looking at these ads and can't help thinking there's a goldmine here. That quantum clips guy was really onto something (besides fraud) :)

Bill, I think you just mentioned in another post that the longer the array, the narrower the sound beam is vertically. These should have a very narrow field, then, right? Or is the field "short" in that it is no longer than the array? (It can't possibly close down SHORTER than the array, into a pinpoint, could it? That's like herding cats!)
2 DR250s, 2 27" Lab15 T-60s, 2 30" Neo Titan 39s, 1 Autotuba...and looking for more!

Seriously, it's only my morals that keep me from going into the cable and 'tweaks' manufacture business.

At what point does getting paid fleecing people become 'taking advantage of the mentally ill' though? At what point do you become mentally ill yourself?

This page has been linked here before due to the massive horn subs but check out the paper cone woofers with the wooden doorknobs stuck in the middle of them... (not to mention the quantum audio toss)
