Weatherproof Otop15, part Deux

Weather is FINALLY coming around and I'm behind schedule . . So, number 2 of the four Otop 15 build out has started.
For those not familiar with what's going on, here's the original thread . . .

Here's what I got done yesterday on #2 . .

Pay no attention to the bubble . . I was simply making sure the braces matched the top and bottom . .

The goop I made from PVC wool and MEK/ Acetone for caulking the seams . .

. .and the seams . . .

I do have one question . . I've attempted to spy it out on other Otop builds, but just to be sure, you do put damping material inside the top and bottom baffle openings to the throat deflectors . . Correct?

Hackomatic, I think the answer to that has only appeared in one thread, where the damping material was beginning to encroach on the openings.
IIRC, Bill said to keep the damping material 5cm/2" away from the openings...

Okay . .I'll be putting the Polystuff in the horn and deflector areas, but as far as the rest of the cabinet lining material I'm staying away from any foam products because of their propensity to degrade/ disintegrate over time. .especially in an outdoor setting. I "think" I have a source for bits and pieces of 1/2" felt carpet pad. If that should fall through, is 1" mineral wool or 1" EcoCore board an acceptable substitute? Didn't know if the thickness was a concern . .

Only when exposed to direct sunlight. Otherwise car seats wouldn't last very long.

For my own edification, I assume fluorescent lights do the same thing. Sonex panels in studios I've built last about 5 years before they become crumbly pieces of goo.

It is the Ultraviolet spectrum that does the damage.

Perhaps you have mentioned this but I assume you are protecting ALL ports and openings with an appropriate expanded metal material. I mention this b/c of your outdoor intent and the bird, squirrel and other critter nests I have removed form outdoor speakers before.

You bet . . expanded metal over the ports for the garden variety southern varmints, and something behind that that will stop the inevitable attempts of the Mud Daubers to add pounds o' clods to the interior.
