What is the "Super glue on the corners trick?" Super gluing the corners on instead of using screws? I don't see the point in that. Clue me in.

The trick is to soak the bare wood edges with super glue before applying duratex. Allow to dry and the glue penetrates a mm or so into the wood and hardens into a shell coating. Helps protect the edges and corners from small dings and dents in the case that you don't want to use metal or plastic corners on your cabinet finish.

2 years back I had a T48 with metal corners slip off a flat bed truck while unloading, within 3 feet of the ground. The cab fell right on the corner and made absolutely no difference. Had to chuck the cabinet, plus I think corners are hideous...

Unfortunately, most 100-pound cabs falling from 3 feet directly onto a corner are going to wind up smashed. Corner protectors are designed to protect the corners from getting bashed up while wheeling them around, sneaking through narrow doorways, stacking them in the truck, etc. I'd have been surprised if the cab did not wind up smashed. Unless the cab is going in my living room, it gets corners. But it's your cab.

This is not my first cab by far, my decision to switch to "no corners" is from experience.

IMO, Corners cause more scrapes and wear on other cabs than having no corners. Of course if your dragging your equipment around like a hobo it makes no difference in either case. I take pride in my builds and how I transport my equipment so they look as good as the day I finished building them. Not very many Pro subs today using corners either, the best alternative is having sliding skids added to your cab.

I have thought about the sliding skids for some time... I think I'll add them to my T48s. I just have to remember to place them far enough apart to accept a standard hand truck.

I believe Leland has some available on his website. You could also use any black polypropylene cut down to size like this stuff.

My half completed Otop fell from 5 foot up (it was weighting down the top of another one during attachment of the top). It bounced on a corner and no damage caused apart from a bit of compression on the ply (4mm). Corners would have helped, but it was to early in the build to have them installed!! That was the moment I truly started to believe in the magic stuff that is PL

Absolutely, PL is awesome. I've had other cab stumbles and have held up no issues. The one time it landed on a corner and it splits like a banana... go figure!!!

Well, the corner of a wood box is pretty stiff and doesn't therefore absorb much shock by local material deformation. All the energy goes into splitting the joints. How's that?

I never liked the corners either. And I'm the guy that had a T48 fly out of the back of a pick up while traveling at 60mph. Baltic birch, duratex, no corners. It was skint up pretty good in a couple spots, but still worked fine.
