now try this one

Baggy Bottom Boys is a great track. I also bought that Vivek EP and it's SILLY low. It's like a great big warm bass bath.
That song at 115 dB is pretty awesome I have to admit (just tried it).

Yeah, it has some lows in there, in fact I bet that is one of the hottest (gain wise) low bass songs I have ever analyzed. Here is a screen capture of the spectrum.
asteroids spectrum.jpg
It actually has a fair amount of "mid bass" meaning 40-60 Hz so I imagine it would still sound good HP at 32 Hz with a fat stack of T48 after EQ. Of course, it really likes the T60.
What really gets you is the high duty cycle, being constant it really moves you.

Thanks for sharing sine!

Yeah I need to turn down the smoothing. Yeah I was right, I reran the analyzer with much higher resolution and I got what you did. Thanks for pointing it out, I'm redoing my bass archive as I type.

Measured 7 feet from subwoofer (my listening position), and I didn't even hit the limiter (probably within 3-4 dB of it). Mind you that some of the sound is coming from the TLAH's but logarithmically that can be mostly ignored.

Just got my t39 rewired on Monday and I did an objective comparison. One was wall loaded while the other (t60) was corner loaded but the t39 was a little closer to me. Regardless I'm not going to address spl as that is found on the charts. Here is what I found. T39 sounds very similar in quality and quantity with songs that have a majority of their bass content above 40 hz. The only songs where I would have been able to blindly pick it out were those with sub 40 hz basslines (meaning the entire peak is below 40). Mind you this is with a single slim t39 vs a 20 inch t60 with a 38 high pass used to level the playing field. With a stack of 4 you would be solid for all e - house, trance and most deep house (surprisingly all the deep house I have is 40 and above primarily). I will eventually build a twin for the t39 as the size conveniently fits length ways in my car.

After fixing the front panel and leak testing I'm pretty sure it was fixed, just my meter was wacko at the time. I won't be know for sure if it is kosher until I do an outside measurement but it seems to be holding its own.

On a side note, I'm pretty sure I'm throttling my SPL meter with the T60. Reason is: I had a song playing at 121 dB roughly and I was at 0 dB or thereabout on my reciever. I raised the gain to +8-+10 and before any limiter kicked in it was only reading 124 but it literally raised the hair on my head (playing above and beyond). This was only for a couple seconds so don't worry about my hearing :). This volume even gave me the chills.

I've driven it into clipping plenty of times, with <40 Hz, this was with a nice above and beyond 45-65 Hz bassline that would have required me readjusting the gain stage to drive it to the limiter, I had maxed out the reciever gain. Needless to say I won't be playing it that loud at the party I'm having in SLO in 1.5 weeks. Hell I think 120 @ 2m will invite the cops at short order. Like can be expected: certain parts of the room don't get loud bass no matter how much you crank it. My listening position is flat to 35 but then drops off like a rock, standing across the room the spl is 10 dB less but it plays all the way down there.

The reason (IMO, no real data to prove but based off what I hear in my small room) that larger rooms make low bass shine is you don't get the close up cancellations from the short wall length reflections that you do in smaller rooms but still benefit from corner loading the same amount, this allows you to perceive the awesome bass closer up and thus it is much louder. I still don't understand how people are rattling dishes from a block away: even with mine going full blast (deafening) I haven't had people complain, and trust me it was pretty darn loud. Maybe the small room contained and absorbed most of the sound. If I open windows, which I never do while blasting, I'm sure that would change. However, I can't imagine it being more than 80 dB or so outside the house if you have the house sealed off and stand right outside, maybe 75 at the property border. It's the opening of the door that kills it I imagine (I've gotten parties shut down with just the T39 slim).

I'm only building what I can sanely store in my house. I'm sure you'd have more if your parents could be assured you wouldn't trash the house playing with them...

I'll get through the back end of this year with the T60s and 39s and then see about making more of the big ones because it's clear I now have an illness when it comes to bigger and louder.
