8 is going to be absolutely deadly. What driver are you planning on using? This thread's so long I may have missed it. Regardless, 8, with even the cheapest driver option will be deafening. In a lovely way, of course.

Progress? Pics of the herd? Man, I hope you bought the 5-gallon bucket of Duratex! I'm building 4 T48s. I am wondering how much DTex I'm going to need, especially since I like multiple coats on my cabs. For once, I might first roll on a thick layer of flat black primer to reduce how much Dtex I will need.

BTW, did you use the new plans with the front mount access cover? Would like your thoughts on the build process. I'll reread this thread again, too.

I see they are the new build. Not having to cut access covers will be nice. Would still like to hear your thougths on the build, what to look out for, etc.

I probably wouldn’t change much regarding the plans. The build was a little easier than I had anticipated as far as complexity. Its a ton of work, no way around that. The math and confusing stuff is simplified and the process is well thought out. If they sound as well as everyone says they do I will be more than happy with everything. That being said, my expectations are pretty high so we shall see

Helpful build hints: buy a box of disposable gloves...or two. Have a decent quality table saw. Mine sucks and caused problems when cutting 45's and most any angled cuts...forcing me to use more pl than i should have. Follow the plans, follow the plans, and follow the plans. Have them with you all the time, read them at least 5-10 times before building and review the sketch up deal each time you are reading; building and tearing boxes up and down on the program. This really helped me, these were my first titans and I built 8 at one time with very few MINOR mistakes. Prep is key. Oh and don’t get drunk and try putting stuff together, it won’t work out well.

Leland said the five gallon bucket should cover it so long as I prime. I am priming with Sherman Williams interior paint as they are the only company I have seen that can actually make black primer. Everyone else can only hit dark grey. There isnt enough room in the paint cans to put the required dye in to make it black. The cans will overflow so you end up with basically just a grey color.

Thanks for the tips. I know all about PL and rubber gloves. I learned the hard way to not even think about picking up that caulk gun w/o having gloves on. Not even to glue one small panel. LOL! I need to learn how to use Sketchup. Still have not figured out how to remove the other four (or five?) cabs on the screen and just be able to see the one I want to "work on."

I have a good TS but the fence needs adjusting...or at least a sanity check...before I start making sawdust. I have about a third of a gallon of DTex left from my OTop build. I'm hoping two buy two more gallons and that will be sufficient. I do plan on a hefty base coat of primer.

I also learned the hard way about drinking and building. I get sloppy and little slipups happen...no other way to put it. I don't do that anymore. Now, drinking and FINISHING...that's different.

Highlight the cabs you don't want, mash the delete key and they're gone. When you quit out make sure not to save. Alternatively back up your files (assuming they're not on a CD) and have a 'work' folder with them in so you can always revert back should you save over the top.

You can hilite a whole cab? I have only been able to click the individual panels of the cab. What can I say? I'm a Sketchup noob.

Highlight the one you want, edit/copy, file/new, edit/paste. You don't want to risk messing up the original.

I always have two copies of the file on the desktop of the computer I am working on. One I change the name to XXXXX_EDIT and that's the one I rip apart and save. I can always delete it and make a new _EDIT file if I need something I previously deleted. I also keep a safety copy on a backup somewhere.

I never used sketch up at all during the build of my t30s and OT12s... I work in IT, so I really shouldn't have had a problem using it, but I found it awkward to use. I therefore just followed the well written plans (ignoring the bits about using sketch up ). Seemed to work out OK for me... My round T30s are brilliant and as for those Otops... I have never seen such a massive speaker in my life!!

Looking great, man! Having cut all the wood for 4 T48s myself, I can only imagine the PILE you had for eight of them and how long it took to cut it all! Keep us posted.
