But, for me, when I could woodwork, it made me happy and relaxed. I didn't put pressure on myself to get any projects done. I just worked on them instead of watching TV, going to the bar (not always ), recreational stuff. I kept it a hobby. Since I can't woodwork anymore, I miss it very much. It is all in your perspective of woodworking. If you think of it as work, it is. If you enjoy it, you'll never work a day in your life.
No offense taken I just made the mistake of trying to rush and thus my usual enjoyment of building turned into I want to listen to these buggers. Lol.

Apologies were not needed my friend, but graciously accepted anyway (get it while you can oops, back into tongue-in-cheek territory )
At least you had the right mindset when you still could. I have little time available for woodworking and those scarce moments that are available I often do not even have enough time to gather tools and materials. And then my mindset is often not where it should be. Should work a bit more on my zen side
Just sealed one up, plugged it in, crossed fingers, and it totally let me down... I must have broken a single tweeter lead because none of them are playing and I can definitely hear the 4k LP filter I put in. Murphy's law at work. Next set of HF speakers I'm paying someone more talented than I to build because this is an embarrassment. They also don't seem like anywhere near 95 dB efficient, but I haven't been able to test them properly (plus tweeters are off). I now have 2 broken tweeters that I know about, and probably a bad lead inside the cab. I'll keep the forum posted with my repair progress but that won't be until at least tomorrow night.

Also, there is no way in the world that the speaker as designed will stand up on carpet, I'll need to build a more substantial base to compensate.

AHEEEMMMM, just got one properly sealed up and finished (other awaiting arrival of replacement tweeters) and all I have to say is..... OHHH MMYYYY *insert excited statement*. Playing a few Hi-fi songs through it made me think.... I don't think I've heard much better than this, if at all. Their only weakness is the bass and well that's what the subwoofer is for. Anyone who is on the fence about TLAH's I recommend building them with the woofers I did (madisound 2 bucks a piece when you buy a case) if you don't buy the recommended goldwoods of course. And I only have one operational at the moment, I can't wait for the second to be loaded.
I'm now a believer (had lots of building problems in my short building career) in BFM's designs. Thank you kind sir.

Well I got the second kinda done. 2 tweeters need to get subbed out (cosmetically damaged) and the back needs another screw but otherwise it's done. Can't comment on sound, I only played it for 10 minutes before dad went to bed (so I turned it off of course). I think I need me a table tuba... we'll see how long the T60 build takes me. By the way, one lesson I learned with soldering tweeters in parallel. Attach wires to every tweeter, then twist the ones together that need a solder joint (usually 3-4 wires twisted together so make sure to have fine wire) far away from those pesky pads and apply a nice bead of solder, tuck away wire. Leave all your tweeter wires longer than need be, 18 gauge wire is dirt cheap and it's not worth sweating the inches savings. Last, the second one goes together in half the time, I was surprised I did what took me 2 nights in 1 today. Proper eq and review to come.
Preliminary/first impression: they aren't as good (yet) as my grandpa's hand made speakers that have 4 drivers each (1 mid one ribbon tweet two 7 inch bass drivers) and I'm not referring to the bass that I knew wasn't going to be there (although it is a little disappointing at best in that regard). I say yet because I haven't spent a long time messing with them.

One thing, they do go loud, haven't tested how much so, but I'm expecting deafening loud.

I'd wait on judgement until you got the two together, eq'd right and have the proper wattage running to them. Unless your hammering some heavy bass through them, they should be able to keep up fairly well with most of the music that is provided out there today. 90 or so db at 100hz isn't bad for a HT main. I'd say get a good classic rock song that you like and has good midbass and hammer that through and see what your results are. If your liking a single, together the results will be magical. Just dont expect something from them that they wont be able to provide. You will definitely need a sub for any modern day r&b or the like if your looking for chest pounding bass.
Another suggestion. Aside from blowing out your ear drums, and with all the troubles that you've had, I'd be sure that each speaker is in fact producing music. For me, I kept them on very low volume and took the piece of rubber tube that I bought and put one end near each speaker and one end near my ear. I was able to hear if they were all playing, but it also gave me the abilities to tell that one of my tweeters was just a wee bit off. Not sure how it happened, but I swapped it out for another that I had and the uniformness, if thats a word, felt better to my ear. Mind you I did the testing twice, once when I got them and once before I glued them all together for my Jack, but the practice is similar in nature.
I've been listening to demo material. Think arms of an angel. They sound good just not infallible. And I don't know if they compare to the spl chart bill provided.
