I forgot to credit Harley for the one-piece access cover flange. Remembered the props for screwing in the H-nuts, but forgot this one.

So much good stuff gets shared here, sometimes it's hard to remember where you heard it.

(figured I'd better do that since he's coming to the States....wouldn't want him finding his way to Texas and teaching me some Kiwi manners)

I prefer not to watch paint dry (although that flat black is very fast), so I thought I'd make the "caster silencers".

Start with 4 free paint stirrers. Clamp 'em all together and cut 2.5" off the end. Now cut 2.5" off the end again.

Now you have a spacer for each side of the stick. Glue one on each side, clamp 'em up and go have lunch.

Ok, now that they are dry - cut some rat fur so that it will wrap around the whole thing. I also had to cut an additional piece to put on one side to fatten it up a bit. You want a nice tight fit. Use glue, wrap 'em around the sticks and staple 'em up.



Then just stick 'em in between the wheel and the frame.



Voila!

In order to fit the v-plate, did you have to remove the inner plastic corners completely or just "do a little surgery" on them?

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough....it's not the corners of the chevrons that got lopped off, it was the v-plate. If you go back up to the picture above, you can see the old one on top of the new one.

The chevron corners stay on and intact and the v-plate is cut to fit so that it lays down flat.

Well, the T39s, the v-plate, and those silencers ain't gonna do much of anything without power.

Added another matching amp to the rack to power 'em. Haven't taken a picture of the rack in awhile, so....



And here's the back...



And with the lid up....

I don't use that mixer anymore, but it's there in a pinch or something small. I did use it once last year to add more inputs....



Tomorrow, I'll go back through the rack and tune it up - reset limiters, etc. May even pull 'em out front and re- EQ the whole thing.

The front and back panels are compression fit. That's probably the one good thing about rat fur - it works really well for that. They just pop in. And after about four years, they are still nice and tight.

Here's a pic of the front. There is a pull strap....or else you couldn't get 'em out. It just loops over the top and is screwed into the backside.

Actually, Tim Ard deserves some Qudos here. Ages ago Bruce ( Gavin ), Leland, Tim and I were bitching about some sealing problem of an access cover in a cab ( a DR I think ). It had more to do with scraping the PL away and getting an even sealing surface. I floated the idea of the one piece flange and that very day Tim applied it to his current build, sent me back a pic and said "Is that what you meant you mad Kiwi?" The rest is now history and you're gaining the benefit of USNZPDT Inc ( US-NZ Prduction Development Techniques )

Mater, what is this "rat fur" of which you speak? I know you're a Redneck, but I'm a Hillbilly, are you suggesting I skin rats, tan hides and sew furs together?

While that is certainly an option......they be folks what done already did it fer ya'.

They'all call it speeker karpit.
