Light weight cabinets

#1 Post by Rick Lee »

This is a recent install that uses light weight DR200s and a light weight T39. The T39 was light enough that I hoisted it up on my shoulder to carry up a flight of stairs. Normally I reinforce the lip of the mouths with hard maple but since this was a permanent install there was no need. Properly built with reinforced driver chambers any of the Tubas and Titans can be built in a light version. I also build the DR series in a light weight version. These speakers are very durable and should hold up to years of use.

Very nice Rick! Did you get to weigh them? Great bracework on the sub.

Thanks y'all. Yes, I weighed them but forgot to write it down... They're both very light. I THINK the T39 was a little under 40lbs with the non-neo driver. The DR's were 20 something. Light enough that I don't intend on building fiberglass composite cabs any more.
