I'm with ya. The Festool Vs EZ thing on this thread should just stop. We have already hashed everything out that needs to be hashed out. People can go thru this thread if they want info or do research elsewhere.

Alright i did a quick search and found this thread as something else I had come across. It is similar to the Dewalt and uses the same Dewalt saw just looked a little different in the videos on Youtube. What do we think?

Great guys! Instead descending into mudslinging a comparison like you are suggesting shows how cool this forum is. Very useful. There was a suggestion of a Festool demo at the listening party just gone but dunno if it happened. I'd be interested in an objective assessment esp of the Festool in the EZ base plate (no idea why I haven't seen people do that before - maybe the combined cost of both systems makes it moot for many of us). I will look forward to more info as and when. Lemme say again how privileged I feel to see such gentlemanly conduct.

Thats the first time I have seen that track saw but it looks good for a vinyl or a roofer looks quick for what they do. Did not check out the price. I'm sure the other three or four track saws out there can do the same but for angels looks quick at least they demo it over and over again not just once or twice. Looks like it well sell I'm sure sobody would buy.

For me it would be out because it seems limited. I think because its a tool not a system of other tools working with it. And for 650.00 I would look at onr of the other track saws like Eurekazone, Festool, Dewalt, Makita. T least two of them are complete systems.

2 years on, how are you all getting on with choices that you have made?

How does the Makita version do ? Its nearly £100 GBP cheaper than the Festool....

I can't decide.... Should I take a plunge...? I loved wood work at school, and would loved to get back into doing projects not just speaker cabs, but possibly a rabbit hutch, repair/replace our stair case, new door frames, garage racking etc

I opened this thread because I noticed the little indicator that shows I've posted in it, and I couldn't believe how long it was since I got my track saw.

I'm still very happy with my Makita. The cuts are still as precise, and it takes up minimal space when not in use. And for larger and heavier work pieces I'd rather move a the saw than the piece.

Not that I wouldn't want a table saw too. Particularly for the smaller, irregular pieces I think it would be quicker.

The Festool track saw is a truly great set up. I have had mine for a while and everytime I grab it, I know it will work and be accurate. I am sure the Makita, Dewalt, etc will work well too, but Festool is simply the best of the best. Right now I am seriously considering ordering the Festool parallel guide set ($325) to go with my track saw to make it even better. Nothing Festool sells is cheap, but they are worth it in my eyes.

Nope i have noticed. If I bought one of these it would set my builds back, by a year probably!

I think i'll add it to the list of wants and try and twist wives arm, but I think I will certainly have to justify it, and probably have to do my first set of builds using a jig and circular saw only.

My garage isnt big enough to house a nice large table saw and use it for other things. I like detailing cars but with a medium sized car such as Saab 93 only have a couple of feet front and rear (enough to open doors and work around)

Its a toss up between Festool and Makita, having used Dewalts suff recently its not all that great and I've watched some Youtube vids Vs Festool and it wasn't praised that much.

I'm still digging my EZ stuff. I posted on this thread a year ago that Dino was going to come out with a new base that will make bevel cutting EZ, but that still hasn't happened.

Outside of that though, I'm quite happy with my purchase.

Well... Looks as if I've managed to talk the wife into letting me buy one.

The fact that the house needs skirting boards, doors adjusted, attic boarded, kitchen plinth finished, Kitchen up stands finished and a gate/door in the garden, nothing to do at all with "building stupid speakers" - Might even build a rabbit hutch with the left over ply.

This Festool looks magical, and i've pretty much seen every Youtube video of it in action.

Now its just shopping around to find the best price but doubt I'll get one off eBay incase of faults that may develop.

This is a huge leap, and is going to put back the cab building, but at least I can read and read and read the plans and get familiar with these, till next year when the house is finished, baby is a little older and I can book in some "free" time!

To the O/P - Thank you, i didnt realise such a device was out there, and was looking at a table saw, this would have taken up a lot of the garage meaning I would have been restricted on car detailing!

I'm looking forward to being able to cut a 5 degree angle accurately!
