I like your style Grant, and you may have a point. Without analyzing this to death (one wouldn't want anyone losing sleep (...aghem!) over the heinous pillow prices here in the UK) I'll send my Mum down to world famous Bury market and see what she can turn up.

As for therapy, it is pretty cheap. I am still however holding off telling my wife the sum total of the numbers till we get nearer the end. Fortunately, she has a good appreciation of my therapy requirements.

No need to apologize. :-) If a thread facilitates people doing the stuff, I'm happy.

Yep, not posted on here for a long time....Stopped making cabs for a while, and then got back into producing small runs of pretty traditional (ie baffle loaded) bass cabs - Yes I know...I was drawn back to the dark side :D

Tend to pop in and have a gander at the build threads once in a while as I like to see bits of wood forming into cabs

I am always bobbing around on http://www.finnbass.com/ and that has a good BFM section as well

It's been very hard moving forward through these minor sheaths install phase, fiddly detail and numerous parts, but now there is progress to report.

Here's a picture of the top hat trial fitted, with a spacer the same shape as the top flange, for the screws to bite into. The upstand braces are not in the final position - this is dry run.

Rollered blackness, a combination of brush application and rollering with a custom roller I made.

Here is the custom roller. 20mm wide standard (non textured) foam roller, cut down from a standard 4" roller element. Fitted into a plastic handle on something i was throwing away.

The first minor sheath, stapled, glued and afterwards, trimmed back on the overhanging edge.

On the second one fitted via the use of staples, the staples punched through the 3mm ply at one side causing it to delaminate and not join properly, hence the clamp and batten to try and glue it back into place and line accordingly. I decided at this point that stapling these minor sheaths was a bit of a pigs ear job and not easy to do neatly.

I proceeded in the clamping manner with the last 2 sheaths, by feeding the clamps through the bass ports.

The other end of the clamps sat nicely on the end of the braces that support the whole bass port structure.

Hopefully things will move better from here on.

Except that this one didn't work. The force conponent from the clamp is not onto the curved brace pieces. It's a stroke of luck if the clamps curve the wood and it curves in the profile shape of where It needs to be. May need a combo method or staples and clamps.

EDIT: On closer inspection, the sheath was too wide in the lower regions and being trapped between the side sheaths wouldnt fit down onto the profiles where it needed to be. Need to trim some width off.
