Yep, you have to be well organised with SIKA 30 minute cure. Sika also have a "2 Hour cure" version which I have used with great success. Good luck with Selley's - hope it works for you better than my lot did.AlessandroAU wrote:I didn't like how little time the sika took to grab and how quickly it expanded,

Emailed to me today, when I enquired about a box...Grant Bunter wrote:I mentioned earlier that PL premium is available in Australia...
It's even in a sticky in Tips techniques etc
And they only want $5.50/tube (but minimum order is box/12 + $20 something postage which is fine if you have plenty of builds in mind.)
At $5.50 a tube ex GST, it worked out to a bit over $8 a tube. Not a bargain compared to Selleys... but at least it's the "right stuff"Code – LOC-PL295
Product Description – Loctite ™ PL Premium PU 300ml
Cost – $12.05 per tube
M.O.Q – 12 tubes
Delivery Charge – $26 +GST
But for this much, plus shipping...

Have a crack at them Bitsmasher, that's (more than) doubled in price over the last 12 months! And we're at parity with the US$ so they can't use that excuse. My box cost me $110ish delivered.bitSmasher wrote:Emailed to me today, when I enquired about a box...Grant Bunter wrote:I mentioned earlier that PL premium is available in Australia...

Yeah, a bit crud. Will hassle them when I have the energy to be a nuisance consumer. For now, I have a Bunnings between my work and the bus stop home so convenience rules.
Re: Adhesive misbehaving, worried joints are not airtight?
Bit of a noob question, but......... Can someone explain the importance of a cab eg jack being airtight, when it essentially is ported cab?

I hope this is right.
Leaks mean more air "escapes".
Yes they are ported, but if the port area is affected, ie increased by cab leaks, then cab tuning changes (usually lower) which may be to the detriment of the drivers. I guess it would also change sensitivity.

Re: Adhesive misbehaving, worried joints are not airtight?
To add to Grant's post, last fall I went over my Omni 10.5s and sealed whatever potential leaks there were (they were built 4 years ago when I was just starting to learn about wood working). Since the sealing, I think the cabs sound tighter and deeper, at least, I want them to (trying to be subjective). But at least I know with surety, that everything is right with the cabs.Fenderfan wrote:Bit of a noob question, but......... Yep, got it, thanks. I made sure with my jacks that everything was good and tight, with ample squeeze out, but was just curious. Thanks, Tim.
