Thanks guys for the responses. Sorry I hadn't checked back in sooner I didn't get any responses before so I had given up. I called every building supplier in Charlotte and nearby and all I got was " we'll get back to you". So my speakers still haven't been built yet. They keep saying Arauco isn't being made anymore and half of them never even heard of "Baltic" birch. Also he's totally correct about the traffic in Charlotte. I guess I'm spoiled being from NY where you can get anything you need.

Ohhhhh yes it is. The biggest problem with Charlotte is that it wants to be a world-class city, but the population isn't exactly "world-class." The city plans poorly, taxes wantonly, and spends wastefully.

An example... they're building a four lane highway loop around the city that's always congested, and the last couple of miles of highway through the country have taken years to come to fruition (and are not done yet). This part of the highway would shave off a thirty minute drive through the city to connect the two major interstate thoroughfares on the north side of town, and has been ignored for twenty years. All the while, the junction of the high volume inner belt loop to its feeder interstate is one lane.

That's just one example... there are plenty more. Thankfully, I don't live there... just near enough to know.
Once I drove around Charlotte on my way to florida... Was surprised to see that traffic around New York city wasn't remotely as much congested as Charlotte. But what made me :loler: the most about your post was that your description of Charlotte seemed strangely familiar... If you think Charlotte is bad, wait 'till you see Montreal. It holds the record for the most congested highway in all of north america. There's the A-40, a 6 lane very busy highway that crosses the whole island lenghtwise. And then there's the A-15, another very busy 6 lane highway that crosses perpendicular to it. And guess what, the north and south sections cross the 40 a few miles from each other, so basically you have 12 lanes thar are strangled down to 6 for a few miles, jamming the 40 on its full length every friggin day the lord made since friggin forever.

Then you've got the A-30, an highway that goes around the city so all the trucks and traffic that goes from Quebec to Toronto doesn't cross the city. The last section of the highway, a bridge, that will make this highway useful, will open in a few days... Something like 50 years after the construction of that highway.

Then there's the airport, that is too small and surrounded by bungalows, so planes cannot land beteween 11 PM and 7 AM, which is a big problem for international flights due to time zones. To solve that problem, a huge ultramodern airport was built in the country far north of the city, which was to be linked to the other via a high speed train. The train was never built, that new airport was closed, and the governement invested several times more in the other money-pit airport just to keep it open than what the high speed shuttle would have cost. Oh, and the actual airport is on the west of the island, a 45 minutes drive from the city center, and is about the only place in a 50 mile radius around the city that isn't linked to the city by any train, subway or even a friggin bus lane. Of course, tourists all bring their car with them in the plane, don't they ? :fruit:

And, of course, just about every single major infrastructure in that city was ill built in a hurry 50 years ago, prior to the 1967 international expo. So guess what, everything is now getting rebuilt... at the SAME time.

I was referring to these posts......

I'm not aware of anywhere to get arauco since Lowe's stopped carrying it around here. For any future builds I'll be getting in touch with a cabinet shop for BB
