Plywood Charlotte NC

#1 Post by DJMB »

I have tried to contact the builder listed for NC and have also tried to reach another member from Charlotte but no one has answered my messages. I have searched all over but can't find Baltic Birch or Arauco. Is there something else that can be used ? I need to have 6 T-30s built within the next 2 months.

Just google Charlotte NC lumber suppliers....

It doesn't hurt to call some cabinet makers and ask where they get theirs....

Not trying to be smart...
I said this recently in another post, modified for this thread.

If I can find Arauco in rural Australia, you should be able to find it in NC
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

You'd be surprised. Charlotte Hardwoods (linked above) is about the only one around that has it.

How weird:
http://www.industryintel.com/news/read/ ... board.html
MONCURE, North Carolina, January 24, 2012 (press release) – ARAUCO, a global leader in the production of sustainable forest products, has started production at its newly acquired panel facility in Moncure, North Carolina.

Since Arauco now own the above facility, perhaps they can give you guys a heads up on other options for local stockists, possibly they could even get some in if you guys wanted a pallet????

Moncure is a two hour drive from Charlotte. That may not mean anything to those of you that live in the wild, but we lazy Americans prefer to find things within a few minutes from home. :slap:

Hey Brent,
I didn't say drive there lol!

I meant pick up the phone, give them a call.
Since it's an MDF and particle board plant I wouldn't imagine you'd want anything from there anyway.
Since Arauco, as we already know, have a ply division, give em a call, ask them what other stockists there are in your area.
I had to drive for hours to find mine lol...

Not sure any of this matters as the OP hasn't seemed to come back to acknowledge the advice.....

FWIW, in case others from the Charlotte area come here looking- Matthews Building Supply didn't have 1/2" BB in stock when I called this past week, but had no problems getting pricing and a <1 week leadtime back to me within a half-hour. I was told it'll be in 4x8 sheets @ $43.75/sheet, will confirm mid-next week.

Also, A-M Supply in north Charlotte had 1/2" BB in 5x5 at $33.75/sheet.

Damn, I wish I could get BB for anything like that.
For me it's over $100/sheet and freight for over 300 miles

I'd trade you cheap lumber prices for living in NSW any day of the week, mate... spent a couple of weeks in the Sydney area a few years back, and loved every minute.

That statement should go in a Tourism NSW ad lol.

If I lived in Sydney I could get the BB for 100/sheet without the freight.
Or Italian Poplar for $130/sheet
I don't like the place anymore. To big and impersonal, full of city folk who don't have time for anyone else...

Surely Charlotte isn't that bad

Ohhhhh yes it is. The biggest problem with Charlotte is that it wants to be a world-class city, but the population isn't exactly "world-class." The city plans poorly, taxes wantonly, and spends wastefully.

An example... they're building a four lane highway loop around the city that's always congested, and the last couple of miles of highway through the country have taken years to come to fruition (and are not done yet). This part of the highway would shave off a thirty minute drive through the city to connect the two major interstate thoroughfares on the north side of town, and has been ignored for twenty years. All the while, the junction of the high volume inner belt loop to its feeder interstate is one lane.

That's just one example... there are plenty more. Thankfully, I don't live there... just near enough to know.
