Question about 500 watt crossover components
Why do we use 500 watt components in our tops when we would never put that much power into them ?

Where in the plans does it say you must use 500 watt components?djtrumptight wrote:Why do we use 500 watt components in our tops when we would never put that much power into them ?

Re: Question about 500 watt crossover components
I have 500w because they're the next step up from the 200w stuff, at least with Erse. 200w is not adequate I feel for the cabs that are using the drivers that can handle 300w, which is actually quite a few of them. Plus a little overkill for durability is not a bad thing.

i always wondered that too. why don't you just keep the 500 watt to avoid confusion? its only like 5$ more
Before Fitzmaurice, big bass could only be had with just a hook and a nightcrawler.

To some that $5 is important.

Re: Question about 500 watt crossover components
I was just curious about it and why the kits come with 200 or 500 watt crossovers.Which cabs can take 300 watts ? I have DR 250's with the premium drivers that i limit at 38 volts ( i know 40 is recommended and 44.7 is the max).

The 500W inductors are also a lot bigger.LelandCrooks wrote:To some that $5 is important.
