Thanks bitSmasher. I'm not gigging but the coating can be reapplied if needed to cover dings and scratches. I have bumped them a couple of times taking them in and out of the car with no worries. It's still early in their life so we'll just have to see how they hold up. The paint was pretty cheap at $100 for 4L and I've still got some left to fix any dings in the future (pending shelf life of the paint ofcourse).bitSmasher wrote:They look great!
I'm interested to know how durable the floor coating finish is with constant gig use.

Nice looking results! To take it back a few steps, I see you've put your vent holes in the throat panels rather than in the baffle. Was the only reason for this your larger spacer? - square rather than a ring? Thanks. Tim.

Nice and neat! They look very professional. I'm still building my first BFM, the Omni 15 TB, I hope it will turn out as fine as your Jacks!
Re: 2x Jack 112, Hamilton, NZ
Thanks Tim. I got my plans in early 2011 and that's where they go in those plans. I got the latest plan update near the end of my build and noticed the different location but it was too late for me and I wasn't fussed anyway cos I had followed my plans.Fenderfan wrote:Nice looking results! One benefit I can see with having the vent through the baffle is that it would make it easier to line the box with foam. The baffle stays clear of foam because of the driver but trying to keep the vents clear of foam when you can't quite see it (when through the side of the throat assembly) is a little tricky but not hard if you get my drift. The new way means you can just slap the foam in there!

Re: 2x Jack 112, Hamilton, NZ
Great good to know. I've put mine through the baffle as per the plans, but have also gone for the larger spacer as per your photos. Easier and cleaner looking I thought. First Jack built, starting second one while I wait for my electronic order from Leland - when I get around to ordering it! Gives me some time to try and source some eggcrate foam locally. Appears every now and then on Trademe, so I guess I'll just keep an eye out.

I could give you some for free if you are passing through the Tron anytime soon. We have tons of it here at my work that just gets recycled otherwise. It's what I used.
How did you get on with your order from Leland? Have you got Shipito all sorted?

Re: 2x Jack 112, Hamilton, NZ
Hey Jono, that'd be great if I could grab some of that! Might have to work out next time I'm down that way. I go to Rotorua a bit, so might have to work in a detour....
I haven't ordered from Leland just yet, that was this weekends job. I should be sweet regards shipping, as I got my Eminence 2512's from Livesound in Greylynn - the NZ dealer for them. They are pretty damn pricey retail, $460 excl. GST I think, but I know someone who knows someone
so I got them wholesale, and it worked out in the end only a small fraction more than going through the other channels. Shows the markup they put on them though! They were in stock too, so it was a ph order then pick them up same day.

It's always good to know someone!
I'll start securing a stash of foam at work for you. Any build pics yet?

Re: 2x Jack 112, Hamilton, NZ
I've been using my phone, as some of it I've been doing at work, and have misplaced the usb cord for my ph to upload to pc. Will have it sorted by the time I start no.2 build (this weekend hopefully). Then I'll just have to work out how to upload them here. That'd be awesome Jono, cheers!
