Tedward wrote:JohnP., thanks for the ear plug idea, I have lots of those around.

Also, I want to wire an on/off switch for the tweeters. I have a dpdt switch but, don't know how to wire it. Any help would be appreciated. Tedward
I have a diagram from Leland on the first page of my first Jack 112 build, close to the bottom. There's also a link to another one somewhere down there.

Sorry, I don't know how to just link the pic off my iPad.

Btw, I now leave the switch in the off position all the time for my bass, but that's because I'm not playing higher registers in my music. Also, nice build, and nice basses. I'd like to do an acoustic someday.

Looks good! All of it! Expecting a report.

Have you tried it with the house stereo?

Got the switches wired. Thanks kekani. The ABG took me a year and a half to build. First ABG I ever built and worth the time and effort. The other bass used to be a Jazz Bass, with some interesting mods from another builder that was the end result.

Tom, I'll give them a try through the stereo.

Took one cab the a gig last night.
We did an acoustic set with a fiddle,2 acoustics and my ABG. No drums (his night to watch his kids).
All I can say is WOW! That was the first time I could feel the floor shake and we didn't play very loud. Couldn't stop grinning it sounded so good. :D Every note was tight and articulate. I switched the tweeters off because it was too much in the high frequency range for my taste. I'm more of an old school sound myself. I can't imagine what two of them would sound like. Can't wait to try both of them out. Nobody asked about the ball but were curios about the design.

Monday night I'll play the electric through them at practice.

I started a DR250 and Tuba 60 a friend and will be documenting those builds.

Thanks for such great designs, Bill. Tedward

Not to hijack the tread, but mind if I ask where you got the plans for the abg, or did you just spec one out and go from there (which is what I've done for my current 'ukulele shape, and my electric bass - combo of a Warmoth Dinky P top wing, with a Dinky J bottom wing shortened to allow for 24 frets - of course there's P&J pups like yours)?

Back to the thread, I'm guessing the Jacks are your bass stack?. With two acoustics and a fiddle, are you planning on using them as your full range at some point in time?

The ABG is based on http://liutaiomottola.com/instruments/Tinozza.htm. I deviated from the plans on a few things. Mostly the bridge. The "A" type bracing and body are from the plans. Mine is not as deep either.

The J12L's will be used as combination full range PA in small venues and I'll play through a pair of Omni 10.5's. In larger venues I'll have the J12L's for bass and I built a pair of OTB15's for PA and the Omni 10.5's for monitors. Tedward

Glad to hear your report and looking forward to more!

The ABG. Cool. How would you compare it's sound? Do you like the sound? Does it play well? I ask because you went the "untested" route, and, if you built it, maybe, just maybe, I might build one since I have often thought of having one.

I am happy with the sound and when others hear they say it sounds like a bass. It is strung with Thomastik JF344 Flatwounds. I was wanting more of a true bass sound not the sound you get with bronze round wound strings, too much treble. It's probably not as loud and deep as a Tinozza but, still goes deep. The neck has the same dimensions as a Jazz Bass so playing is like butter.

This is the build thread over at TB http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f57/tinoz ... ld-719212/

I'm more computer challenged than not. I do have a sound clip in Audacity but can't figure out how to convert it from WAV to MP3. Tedward

Try exporting the file (as an mp3) to a location on your cpu that you'll remember, perhapa a new folder, which you can rename, in "My Documents" . Then when you want to upload it on a website, you'll know where that file is. (When Audacity records, it saves as ".aup", which won't work outside of Audacity.)
