I want to read that thread, would you know where its at?Gregory East wrote:I started a thread on charging a wee while ago, I got a lot of good advice. It boiled down to charging what I could get away with in my situation. 10% of retail for pure hirage was mentioned, no way I can get that.
If I was you I'd build some tops to go with the subs before doing any more subs That way you can put yoursefl forward to promotor as the goto sound guy and charge good money. These events you are doing seem to be well run, but you aren't fairly rewarded.

BAT10, Bad Auto Tuba. Reverse folded TAT to fit JBL 1014D, 350W driver, voltage limit unknown.
Re: Zefren's Reservation Tuba 60
Okay now One week later, Tubas 50ft apart from each others, Standing orders with everyone don't F@#$%%$# touch any, switches, knobs, controllers, unplug the sonic maximzers, cut offs, high pass filters and ect.
And with a Nice USB Microphone that's recording to the light controller computer @ 16bit 44.1KHz mono.
NO audio processing, compression just raw sound
Our first Gig with a noise complaint, which had that had three San Juan County Sheriff Officers sent to investigate complaints from Across the river, Fortunately they lets us finish.
We so want to build the last four tubas, but now we seeing if the DR 300 or 250 would be the next step for us, best sound for weight with least amount of amp draw and number of amps.

Changes for the fifth tuba. There was a sale on BC 1/2 plywood at Home Depot for $28, it green wood warped and only 4 ply but i love a challenge and this will be the tuba that will first experiment hopefully convincing us to upgrade the whole Fleet to 1/2 plywood.

Day 2 and 3 was bust, my mom was admitted to the Hospital and i didn't feel much like building. SO on day 4 i was i need to build, Now this is where I break from plans due to the extreme warped nature of this Georgia Pacific plywood. planes 3-5 plus the braces are pre assembled to create 1/2 half the box around the driver, and panels 1-2 and braces are pre-assembled. since this is cheap play corner joints near the corners are reinforced with 3/4 ply

I didn't realized it until after but its possible to glue 5 panels in one day, but I will post if this has any impact on the finish tuba.

The actual construction of my t39 took two days. As long as you have the right tools and amount of screws your good to go. But only if your confident I'm your woodworking skills.
Before Fitzmaurice, big bass could only be had with just a hook and a nightcrawler.

I dunno Between savings and time spend trying to straightening bend panels its a draw on using B/C 4ply pine but what i do love is the weight reduction. Almost 65 lbs less than the previous four tubas. So Follow the plans guys and girls. Save up for the 5 ply birch 1/2.

Re: Zefren's Reservation Tuba 60
It is definitely time it time to build some tops. You should have enough bass for any gig, but you only have half a sound system. Build 4 dr250s and be the whole show.
2 THTs, 2 TLAH, SLA curved, 1 8-AT, 1 AT JBL 1002D, 4 Otop12s, Jack 12, TT with Eminence 10", 2 SLAs, 1 T30 slim, 2 T30s (2-10" each), SLA Pros, TrT.

Ok, so I just read a couple pages, and I love your light show. Just be careful of the feds for the lasers. And if they do show up they "aren't yours"
As for you only getting paid $200, That is definitely low. Just build some DR's, and get a 12 channel line mixer so bands and everything can hook up if needed, and take over the whole show. I charge $200 to DJ for 4 hours at bars where I only bring my computer, CDJ's, and Mixer.
I want details and pics (in light) of your lighting setup though.. I need that. looks awesome.

Why can I never make up my mind?
