And so the addiction begins: 24" Titan 48

#1 Post by bass_maniac5 »

So after reading multiple articles, playing for endless hours on Sketchup, and researching many many sites, I have decided to jump in and start building my first set of Titan 48's. If anyone has any advice that they would like to share, it would be most appreciated. Sorry if the quality of the pictures are bad, I have to compress the crap out of them to get them to upload on here.

Dude. I've built a stack of these, and I would suggest you remeasure your layout because that doesn't look right to me. The bottom left corner section looks particularly strange... Please double check it but do accept my apologies if I'm wrong. Pictures and perspective can be decieving and I'm looking at this on my phone.

even with just the line on the wrong side, thats a wrong angle between panel #2 and #4.Look at it the picture in your plans then check your angles.

I would still double check it all. The angle of the second section of horn looks strange too. Like one of the driver chamber panels is wrong. I've made many a mistake on layouts. :/

I was looking at it on my phone earlier and thinking, "hmmm, that's got to be all kinds of messed up" but I haven't built a T48.

I did refold the TAT over many hours so I have some intuition for how it should look and the other comments confirm:

It's messed up dude, it's do-over time.
BAT10, Bad Auto Tuba. Reverse folded TAT to fit JBL 1014D, 350W driver, voltage limit unknown.

Apparently my 1 and 4 look too much alike after a 20 hour day. So yeah it was off by 3 inches. Triple checked all measurements this time and got a second set of eyes to confirm measurements. All better

Like I said this in the learning curve and I do not take offense to someone telling me I am doing it wrong. Better now than later after I have cut all the pieces to fit and I have to destroy it to fix it

Great news that you caught it early enough. I bet there are plenty people out there who wish they had posted a picture at that stage.

+1. I had to draw and redraw mine over 30 times before I got it right.

It was probably the best folded horn that never got built. Clean and loud to 25hz
