Re: THTLP in the house...well garage ATM
Uhg, prior obligations is starting to kill me. It is in my room but still haven't had time to check placement, calibrate or most importantly (((((((((((crank it)))))))))).
So any suggestions for a first song when I have a couple hours to play with it? I have a ton of my own but lets see what you guys come up with.
Transformers 1 attack on the base in Qatar is my go to demo movie scene.

I will check my discs, the wife has a whole classical selection. Silver only, no mp3/streaming for the opener.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote:1812 Overture.

Or this may be a good excuse to open a HDtracks.com account.

Man those cannons on the telarc recording will break systems. Back in the day you could SEE the needle and tonearm track those shots. The only amps that wouldn't shut down were the Haflers and the Carvers.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote:1812 Overture.

Hmmm. All very solid choices, the only one I have on disc is Deadmau5. How about some GusGus - Starlovers or Underworld - River of Bass. Funny thing is the Underworld song makes every direct radiator sub I try it on sound broke but plays fine on horns.bassmonster wrote:+100000000000SirNickity wrote:Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood?

Search out Reso - Hemisphere or perhaps Otacon for tracks that as well as sub-bassy as all get out, are far better produced that 99.9% of the trash churned by 'dubstep' producers.
The 'And Then There Was Bass' CD is worth grabbing if only for the opening track, I played it on request of a friend through my T39s and they were vibrating the room madly but there's one section that just goes too low for them to handle.
Also on the film side of things Speed Racer needs to be experienced on a decent system, most people (critics) think it's a terrible film but to show off an AV system there's little better.

Re: THTLP in the house...well garage ATM
Okay it has been positioned. The REW measurements came back with a relatively flat response from 16-47 then 55-110 hz with a 12db spike in the 47-55 range. That was the best position I can do in the room given the restraints. Just as the Audessey said unplug the mic the wife and kid came home so no foundation shaking bass yet.....
So far sounds good at reasonable levels though, even punches the couch at a normal listening volume.
More to come...
