THTLP in the house...it actually is in the house now

Let us know how the assembly goes for a dadoed build.

It will be the only way I build Titan/Tubas from here on out. Bracing and panels go in and stay in place, a couple brads and you are on to the next step. The only thing that stopped me yesterday was there was some clamping needed as my braces were a bit off. 88 degrees today, I am sure the PL will be cured by now, off I go again.

My miter saw caught a scrap of wood sitting on it when I was sawing a support for the brace that wasn't sitting right.
It pushed it into the fence and broke it in half, about 1.5" of .5" ply.
The real problem was my thumb was in between it and the fence.
It may be broke too.

Seriously all of us here must be very careful with tools whose purpose is to cut and they don't care what they cut. Miter saws are more dangerous then most people realize especially the newer sliders that do compound angles both ways. The fences are low and there is a large gap between the fence and the blade. The blade can and will catch a cutoff and suck it into that gap taking a hand along for the ride. I like to use a sacrificial plywood fence to close up the space on each side of the blade.

Twas painful enough for me to go to the doctors today, couldn't sleep at all last night. After some xrays he thinks it is just bruised badly, but he said if it swells up next week there may have been a small fracture he couldn't see.

I count myself lucky, it could have been a lot worse, a lot more quickly. Glad I was chopping up acura ply and not BB, that probably would have had much worse results.

If your keeping up on this thread. Just noticed the best way for me to get the finish I want on this build would be to recess the access cover into the driver chamber, total access cover thickness will be 3/4" when I am done (1x 1/2" and 1x 1/4" ply), between that and the double think baffle I am looking at 1 1/4" less depth in the chamber than original plans.

What kind of effect will the smaller chamber have? Estimating 10% reduction.

10% will have minimal effect, if any.

Well I have the whole thing closed up. Found one airleak and plugged that. 2 coats of stain went on, I may do another just to make the wife happy. Hopefully varnish tomorrow and move it in by Wednesday. The last side gave me a ton of trouble as usual, I was about 1/2 off of square and couldn't pull it back in. Also even though almost everything went in like nothing there is some warping in the outer panels, not enough to notice by the casual observer. Anyway here are some pics from a couple days ago, will try to get some tomorrow too.

Honestly never even knew about that particular model until I just googled it. I bought 2 drivers and was going to just keep one on hand until I had room to build another THTLP for room mode reasons and when I got a theater going. Upon asking about what would happen if I went wider than 36" a while ago someone suggested might as well dual load at that width, I was like why not. There was no reason since I had the driver.

It would be great if this is a DTS killer but I think it will be just another beast in its own arena. More like a Mexican Standoff than a killer. Looking at the SPL charts for both looks like the DTS starts overpowering a THT (per the sales page from Bill and Danley) at the low 20s but really at that point you may be EQing the gain out anyway.

Of course my build cost is well over $700 cheaper and probably a literal couple pounds lighter. This THT is a bit larger than the Danley. I am sure it will look nicer. I don't need a monster amp to push it. Tapped vs folded horn sound I haven't heard both so I am not sure, Any thoughts? Main advantage is I built it the way I wanted it, I almost have more fun building than using.
