subwoofer pole socket
subwoofer pole socket
a lot of subs have pole cups in them, so you can put a pole in it and mount your mains on the pole. Has anybody been inside one of those? Do they have extra bracing, or do they just have a pole socket bolted in to the top?

They shouldn't, as that encourages poor sub placement.brodave2 wrote:a lot of subs have pole cups in them, so you can put a pole in it and mount your mains on the pole.

Usually they're just bolted on with t nuts mounted inside the cab. There is a backer plate available for some pole sockets for extra reinforcement. Of course you want to make sure to seal it up good.

If you saw the cramped quarters I've been working in lately you'd be looking for something to compact your setup too! Stages 6' deep and 15' wide with a 4 piece band and singer. Tables set up right beside.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote:They shouldn't, as that encourages poor sub placement.brodave2 wrote:a lot of subs have pole cups in them, so you can put a pole in it and mount your mains on the pole.

That's about average for stage size. Aim PA tops at the nearest tables and no one will sit there anyway.brodave2 wrote:Stages 6' deep and 15' wide with a 4 piece band and singer. Tables set up right beside.
